Functional case Rating:4 out of 5 stars I ordered mine together with the iPad so it came to me the same day the iPad was released, but for 39.00 it is still kind of overpriced. The case gets dirty fairly easy but it is also very easy to clean with a damp towel. The case does make it a little more difficult to hold the ipad while reading in portrait mode so I mostly read in landscape mode or portrait mode upside down. The only improvement Apple could make is to put magnetic tabs on the cover so if you drop it, the cover would stay closed to protect the screen – from a reasonable height. I like how form fitting this case is and I can just drop it in a more protective netbook case in my backpack while traveling.
Needs a make-over! Rating:3 out of 5 stars I bought this case from Apple, but I can’t imagine why Apple allows other companies to sell this product. Even worse is allowing them to sell above Apple’s price!
As for the case, it works but it could use some improvement. What I feel that needs to be improved is the front cover. Why have it smaller than the bottom cover? This not only makes it look bad when closed, but it would increase the protection to the unit’s controls and connections if it was the same size as the bottom cover. Why would one need access to the controls and connections with the cover closed? The iPad is gorgeous, so why make a just okay cover for it? Did the engineers go home once the iPad was finished?
In their photo, there is no flap hanging out when the iPad’s cover is folded back, when in landscape mode. My flap hangs out; How about yours? Maybe they taped it down for the photo. A
This would probably be the case (pun intended!) for other cases, but when there is something on the screen, it is a bit hard to get rid of it. If you wipe it off, with a cloth, it gets stuck in the case surround material. In other words, it never goes away!
The case does protect the iPad. Everything, I stated, are minor problems. I do wonder if a clear cover over the screen would have worked out well.
I suggest this case, to use, until someone makes a better case. Just don’t buy it at higher cost than Apple is selling it!
Not one of Apple’s better designs Rating:2 out of 5 stars The case looks and feels great coming out of the box, like so many Apple products do. Like many Apple products, the look and feel is lost as soon as it interacts with the real world. It was difficult slipping the iPad into the case. I was concerned about scratching the screen or doing other damage. The exterior material has a nice feel to it but shows EVERYTHING. The case started showing scuffs and marks almost immeidately. I’ve had the case 6 weeks and it’s time to look for a new one.
Great case….don’t pay more than $39.99 Rating:5 out of 5 stars This is truly a great case for an iPad, but DO NOT pay more than 39.99 for this case. That is the List Price and the Apple store will have them back in stock soon. Also, Best Buy will be carrying these for 39.99 soon as well.
Great Quality Rating:5 out of 5 stars Well, this item itself is very good quality !!! Easy to use and light weight. It also allows multiple view side. It hold the iPad very well.
At this price on Amazon, i suggest you guys should wait and get one from Apple Store. If you really need it right away, i found one which is exactly the same function and design, + better look and higher quality than this one , which is Traveler Folio Case for iPad, Xgear Branded Carbon Fiber Feels Folio Case.
I got this one for my brother, and it is even nicer than OEM Apple Folio Case. This one is Hard Back Cover design, and also comes in carbon fiber feels design which make your iPad look even better !!
WHY!!!!! APPLE WHERE ARE YOU????? Rating:1 out of 5 stars Amazon, if they company even reads this, should be ashamed for allowing this to be sold on their web site. I usually trust Amazon to screen their third party resellers so I don’t have to; NO MORE. Allowing a company to “ILLEGALLY MARK-UP AN APPLE PRODUCT” (they are price protected) is something that Apple should be putting a stop to. They tend to sue everyone else for minor infractions on their copy rights. They should be showing a huge flag on this! (If allowed I would have given 0 stars.)
Yikes! No Value Here Rating:2 out of 5 stars Maybe I’m spoiled, but I like my Acme Made Slick Case for iPad (Matte Black) better. For one thing, this case has no padding. Now at first I didn’t like the padding on the Acme –mainly because it adds weight– but after looking at the lack of padding with this CASE-ZML I’ve changed my mind. I like the feeling of having some protection just as much as I like that there is zipper that fully closes the case, thus keeping keys, pens, whatnot from scratching the screen.
Other than that, this case has a nice feel with better access to the ports than the Acme. It is not, however, as steady as I thought it would be when it is stood all-the-way up. It wobbles like a Weeble. Laid down though it is very nice and provides a good angle for typing and viewing.
THE SKINNY:::
Amazon won’t let we reviewers rant about prices, but you should definitely shop around.
This case is light weight and allows the iPad to be propped up.
It does not close so as to keep extraneous objects out. It has minimal padding, which is probably fine for most folks.
A lot of this you know, is personal preference. Heavy/light, padded/not. For me, I’m taking the iPad on vacation in the Acme case, because I just like the idea of extra protection. For around home or the office, the lighter skin would probably be alright.
Note: some people have commented on the Apple site that this case has warped and bent. I wish they had made those observations before I bought this.
Total tipoff. Rating:1 out of 5 stars A $40.00 case at the apple store and this seller thinks he sell it here to a sucker for $100.00. If you pay that much then you are a fool. Plus amazon should kick this seller off it’s site.
Alright Case Rating:3 out of 5 stars This case is alright if you like to constantly try to keep it clean. This is also very hard to try and get out of the case
Overrated Rating:3 out of 5 stars After all of the hype about this case and it always being out of stock, I finally lucked out and got one of two left from one of the Apple stores here in Denver.
If there had not been so much hype, I may have liked this more, but overall, I was not impressed with this case.
The case is flimsy and gets dirty and scuffed up really quickly. The microfiber seems to attract and hold dirt and scuff marks.
If you plan on removing your iPad from the case, which I prefer to do at times, you’ll have to give it a good fight to remove it from within the case. It’s incredibly difficult to do. The iPad is so beautiful and artistically crafted, I don’t want to always have it all covered up inside the case, so this became a huge problem.
Also, supposedly this case allows you to stand the iPad up in the optional charging cradle/dock that you can buy for the iPad, but the iPad needed about another 1/4 inch to be able to recognize that it was docked. So I was never able to get it to dock with the optional cradle while in this case – despite what they may claim at the Apple store.
What I DID like about this was that it could stand up in landscape mode in two different positions and angles while in the case, which was nice. Standing up vertically was a bit wobbly and I didn’t feel comfortable leaving it that way. I’m not sure it was advertised to do this, so I didn’t ding the review rating for that.
My goal now is to find something more durable and protecting of the iPad, which will hold the iPad at different viewing angles, and most importantly, will allow quick removal of the iPad when I want to enjoy it in all it’s glory.
Leaves a lot to be desired Rating:2 out of 5 stars I purchased this cover as well as CTCStore Leather Carrying Case Cover/Folio With Built-in Stand for Apple iPad 3G tablet / Wifi model 16GB, 32GB, 64GB (BLACK). By far, the CTC store Leather Carrying Case is superior. The biggest difference is that the apple case only positions the ipad in a couple of positions while the other case allows it to be put in several positions. Even the sales people at our local apple store said that they do not like the apple case and suggested a leather case because of the positions.
The positive to this case over a leather case is that it is slightly smaller. Not much smaller–and certainly not enough, in my mind, to make a difference. The Apple pad is much harder to keep clean and easily gets marks on it and turns from black to grey. The apple case feels flimsy, although it is my hope that apple tested it and it is protective. I only used it for a few days so I can not say how protective it is–I certainly didn’t trust it.
I found that with the apple case, it easily slipped out of position also. This was frustrating to me as I wanted it to stay in position so i could “type” on it. The leather case did not have that problem.
There is no case that allows the ipad to be docked while in the case–at least not that I’ve found. Although you can charge it using the usb charger.
In short, I would highly recommend you look for another case besides this—and that is not based on price. I am an apple fan but this does not live up to what i expect from apple in terms of quality and usefulness.
Buyer Beware Rating:3 out of 5 stars Apple’s List price for this case is $39.95. I realize they are out of stock but really, why would anyone pay almost $100! Amazon sells other cases that can tide you until the Apple case is available. Please if you have money to throw, donate it to a good cause.
Price Gouging…….. Rating:3 out of 5 stars Amazon needs to take some responsibility for letting gougers sell via Amazon. This is a $39 item even if it is back-ordered through the Apple Store.
Best Case for the iPad Rating:5 out of 5 stars What makes this case the best is the ability to flip the cover and have it viewable at an angle. Helps tremendously with typing. It’s neat and compact. If I had to choose on any improvments would be an inside jacket insert to hold papers etc.
Apalled! Rating:1 out of 5 stars The iPad case is what I expected and I really needed one; however, I was sickened when after paying over 100 dollars for this item I found out that Apple’s MSRP was 39 dollars!!!!!! I am a loyal Amazon.com customer and I was disgusted to find out that Amazon.com would allow its vendors to charge more than 2.5 times the MSRP for ANY item….it is extremely disapointing. From now on I will wonder and have second thoughts way before I ever purchase from your company again.
