The Samsung S860 is a high-resolution digital camera that is equipped with a true-color filtered 8.1-Megapixel CCD. This allows the Samsung S860 to take detailed photos for printing up to poster size. With the Face Detection AF & AE function, the Samsung S860 enables the user to take better portrait pictures more easily. This function detects faces and automatically focuses on them. The brightness of the faces is adjusted optimally for beautiful portrait pictures. In macro shooting, it is now possible to take clear, natural pictures. Digital Image Stabilization (DIS) technology prevents the degradation of image clarity and color, which is sometimes found in flash photography. With DIS the effects of image blur are reduced in lower light conditions. You can even take well-exposed, sharper pictures in low light conditions without using a flash at all, which guarantees brighter and more natural pictures. The different icons, scene modes and other features are described in simple and easy to understand terms to improve the interaction between the user and camera. ISO – Auto, 80, 100, 200, 400, 800, and 1000 Flash Modes – Auto, Auto & Red-eye reduction, Fill-in flash, Slow sync, and Flash off Range – Wide 0.3m – 4.0m and Tele 0.5m – 2.1m (ISO AUTO) Self-timer – 2 seconds and 10 seconds Still Image File Format – JPEG (DCF), EXIF 2.2, and DPOF 1.1 Scene Modes – Children, Landscape, Close-up, Text, Sunset, Dawn, Backlight, Fireworks, Beach & Snow, and Night System Requirements – Pentium II 450MHz (Pentium 800MHz recommended), Windows 98SE, 2000, ME, XP, Vista, Mac OS 9.2, 10.4 or later, 64MB RAM, 200MB free space, USB port, CD-ROM drive, 1024×768 pixels, 16-bit color display compatible monitor, Microsoft DirectX 9.0C Dimensions – Approximately Width 3.66 x Height 2.44 x Depth 1.04 (93x62x26.5mm) Weight – 123 grams more info

Peak and Drop-off
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I received this camera two Christmases ago. I took really good care of it, keeping it in a case, and it worked beautifully. That is, until the first day of camp about a week ago. The screen went black, the shutter froze open, and the zoom stopped partially retracted. This is a frequent problem for this camera. This is not the most wear-friendly camera out there, but it was a good price for my first digital camera.
There are enough features to satisfy a new photographer. My complaints are concise: the batteries tended to wear out too quickly for my taste, so I always had to bring along PLENTY of spares. The “movie” feature is right above the “auto” button, which is what I kept my camera on most of the time. The dial would pivot in its case, resulting in frequent “accidental movies”. Also, the flash has to reload before it will let you view your pictures. This is extremely inconvenient, because after a picture, you generally have people crowded around you, waiting to see the picture. Lastly, the flash loaded far too slowly for decent action shots, even though putting the camera on “child” mode helped a little bit. Lastly, the shutter would sometimes catch, resulting in a black shadow on the screen. Touching the shutter doors lightly with a finger amended the situation, but it was confusing until I figured out what had happened.
Ultimately, this is a good starter camera. It takes good pictures and is an unobtrusive device to carry with you. I always copied my photos over manually from folder to folder on my computer because it’s simply faster that way. But I’m sure the included software works fine, too. Take good care of this camera and beware of its quirks, and it will take good care of you.
Terrible camera!!!!!

Samsung S860 8.1MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom (Silver)When i bought this camera it was my first experience with digital camera since than on my visit to Las vegas I took about 300 photos they came fantastic just remember you need 2g memory card which is must because without memory card it holds very few photos also you must use lithium batteries aa because if you use regular duracell it runs out within just couple pictures I was able to take 300 picture with just 2 lithium energizer batteries.

I received when promised, loved the value that I paid for but would not buy this camera at full retail value, feels cheap but takes pictures well. Good enough for a teenager.
I LOVE my camera!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I bought this camera last summer (08). This was my first digital camera and I didn’t do much research so I really lucked out! I picked it up on impulse when it was on sale. The color I purchased is different than the current offerings; mine is bright blue. After owning this camera for over a year and using it several times a week I still have nothing but positive things to say about it. The LCD display is sharp and crisp both for image capturing and reviewing. I love being able to zoom in and out on my pictures in the camera. I also love being able to zoom out to 9 pictures at a time to be able to scroll through my many pictures more quickly. Even when we have had a few drinks, we still manage to take great pictures. It is so easy to use! It seems to not have a huge appetite for batteries even though I use it so much. I don’t use it for anything too fancy just lots of fun snapshots so if that is what you are looking for I think it is a wonderful camera at a very affordable price.
A very nice Pocket camera
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Too bad they discontinued this camera… it is a really nice camera for a pocket point and shoot… very decent pics, it fits in a shirt pocket, uses only 2 batteries (get rechargable) – a 2GB mem card will yield 453 full rez images… if you can’t find one new… find one slightly used and you will not be disappointed (unless you expect it to work like a DSLR, in which case, you shouldn’t even bother buying a camera, you got the wrong priorities) Photography is MORE than the equipment.
Dark pictures

This camera works very fine and it’s pretty comfortable, small, you can carry it easily. All the features of the camera are in perfect condition, the only problem is that the pictures are hideously dark! This bothers me so much that I had to sell it and bought a new one. If you like bright, high quality pictures (who doesn’t?) like me, don’t buy this…
Very POOR Camera and Customer Service

My camera was a Christmas present from 2008. Had to pay an extra $59.95 to pay for having it fixed or replaced as it broke on the last day of the 90 day warranty in March 2009. They returned without following their own packing guidelines. Flash broke 2 weeks after returned on June 14th. Had to send in to replace. Two weeks later camera went back out of focus and would not retract lens on June 24th, 2009. Samsung tells me “The camera was fixed before it left the shop.” Ok, if I have a broken chair leg, I can prop it up until someone sits upon it.
*I* would not purchase another camera with a Samsung label or any other product based upon how they have handled this. My $75 camera (on sale) has now cost me (not counting photos of Grand Canyon, San Diego, and Las Vegas that I cannot get back with my small kids), but also $139.95 and I still have a broken camera. *I* would spend my money elsewhere.
Well, it worked for half a year

This was my first digital camera and I had medium expectations for it. It is a very inexpensive camera and is suitable for taking quick snapshots of people about three meters or further. On the other hand, it is horrendous at taking pictures of things VERY closeup. About 1-2 feet away, pictures will look blurry when even using the correct camera options. Pictures at extreme closeups of less than a foot away will turn out completely blurry.
The flash is actually very good – I have taken pictures of quite small rooms in near complete darkness and you would think it was daytime if it weren’t for the shadows. The flash also drains the batteries so be careful. I remember playing with it the first day and the batteries were done after only 25-40 photos. Though, batteries are cheap so no worries… And carry extras with you!!
It is very easy to copy pictures off the camera. All you need to do is plug it in to a computer using the included USB cable, and your computer should recognize it as an external drive. There may be additional software, but it is definitely optional.
I am giving this camera a rating of two stars. I first experienced problems on a long vacation where I took over 300 photos. About every 10 to 20 of them were corrupt jpeg images, but that may have been a problem with the SD card. One night I used it to take a couple more pictures, but the next day it wouldn’t even cut on and the shutter does not come out, but a green light turns on if I hold the power button down (the batteries are new). So, the camera worked for about half a year and was good for roughly 1000 photos.
In conclusion, I would recommend spending a bit more money and getting a better digital camera. The parts must be very cheap considering it broke even when I was taking such good care of it.

Just what I need…….no problems here

I had absolutely no problem with this camera. I started to shake in my boots a bit when I saw the bad reviews AFTER i had ordered the product and what concerned me the most was the fact that the bad reviews of the product were all made in the recent months while the best comments were made last year all around the same time. It made me wonder if the camera was on sale only to get rid of the set of cameras that were known to be botched products. My worst fear was the problems that were reported in regards to the lens not shutting. I can say happily that I have had no problems with that at all.
The camera is the perfect weight and size and I was impressed with the images that were taken. I have issues with my images coming out blurry a lot of the times but i think I just need to practice some more. Overall I feel it is a great product
great little camera!

BEST DIGITAL CAMERA I HAVE EVER HAD!!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have never had such a fantastic camera!!
The zoom on this is AMAZING. I took a picture of a flower at least 20 feet away, when I zoomed in on the flower itself, it came out crystal clear! Every picture I take comes out clear and perfect as though it is 10mp instead of 8!
I took a picture while driving on the highway of a sign and it came out so clear you would think I’d taken it while standing in front of it!
Perfect for up-close pictures of things too!
You can take video with it and hear the sound because it has speakers unlike many other camera!
My Moms $300 camera with 9mp is as good as this! (Except the zoom on this cameras is 100x better!)
Best digital camera for the price you will EVER buy.
