Release grips could be better.
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
The Canon Lens caps that come with most of your lenses are highly effective for their purpose, they fit snug, and protect well. I have never had the cap fall off unintentionally.

The downfall of this (and most) canon lens caps are the release feature. When your lens is outfitted with its respective lens hood it becomes very difficult to snap the cap on the lens or filter. Unless you have a very wide and short hood on your lens, (like hoods for an ultra wide angle), one will always have problems quickly removing / adding the cap.

Sigma has designed the release of their lens caps as a center squeeze as opposed to canon’s edge release. This is much more convenient and easier to use than canons system.

High quality product

I’m not sure how much more there is to say about this lens cap. It comes packaged in a plastic bag stapled to a cardboard card. It snaps securely in place, which is a nice change from the stock cap on my Powershot S5IS. I do miss the leash, and will probably be buying an aftermarket tether soon for it. You can probably buy one for cheaper in another brand, but I decided to get the Canon so I could be sure it would fit properly on my Canon adapter tube. For that purpose, it works perfectly.

Canon Rebel XTi (SLR)
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Perfect size for my Canon Rebel XTi (SLR). It even seemed to fit a little better. 5/5 in my book. Wish it were a little more inexpensive, but hey, it’s not a cheap hobby is it?

Great Fit

The lens cap performs well. I hope to get a cap holder before I lose this one.

Cannon E-58U 58mm
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I lost the original cap and was desperately looking for the cap. When I got in the mail I was disappointed because it was not the exact one. But then as I found out, this was even better. It fits better and is more secure. It worked out even better for me!

Works Perfect for my Rebel XTi.
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I recently lost my lens cap for my Cannon Rebel XTi. I was worried about buying this because so many reviewers said it didn’t fit their Canon, but this cap fits my Rebel XTi perfectly. It’s a perfect replacement for the lens cap that came with my camera.

If you’ve lost your lens cap on your Rebel XTi, get this lens as a replacement! :)

Good as Original

I dropped a lens cover that came with one of my lenses and needed a replacement. This is virtually identical to the original and gets the job done.

Nice Cap

It snaps on nicely. What else can I say? It performs just as you would expect a lens cap to perform.

Great cap – snaps on, stays on! Nice accessory for the Canon Vixia HFS10
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I bought this as an accessory to my Canon VIXIA HFS10 – I know it doesn’t really need a cap, since there’s an automatic lens cover, but I use this as a cover for my filter.

I always like to keep a Tiffen 58mm UV Protection Filter on, both for the UV protection and to keep debris off the lens while I’m filming. Believe it or not, someone spit while I was filming once and the wind blew it right onto the lens. So now I always keep a UV filter on there, and then I like to keep this cap on the filter to protect it while it’s in my bag.

This is a great cap. You couldn’t ask for a better. It snaps on easily and stays on until I snap it off. Exactly what I wanted.

Canon lens cap

This did NOT fit my Canon Powershot S5 IS and had to be returned. My suggestion if you need a cap is to go to a camera store to ensure that the cap fits properly.

perfect fit

My daughter had misplaced her other lens cap, felt vulnerable to damaging her lens. I ordered two in case she misplaces another.

Works great!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I bought a Canon SX10 IS in January, which was my first big camera purchase after using a small Kodak P&S for five years. My only concern about the camera was that there was no way to protect the lens. After a lot of research and reading reviews, I found out a company called Lensmate makes an adapter. I ordered the adapter and a UV filter, to protect the lens of my camera. I forgot to order a lens cap for the filter though, and found this one on Amazon. It fits perfectly and works great! Very pleased!

works as advertised
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I gave it a 4 star rating because though it works as advertised, its missing one very important feature (the reason i lost it in the first place)…It needs a strap or a string so that you can attach it to the camera.

Fits snug and looks great
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Let me start by saying, there seems to be a misconception this cap is specifically for the S series cameras; it is for ANY Canon camera that can support 58mm adapters, filters etc.

-The S1/2/3 feature a pop-on cap and this is NOT a pop-on cap. Therefore the E-58U will not fit as the “original” cap does.

-The S5 uses this “style” of cap, and is about the same size (overall), but as stated above, the E-58U is NOT an OEM replacement cap. The S5 OEM cap is roughly a 47mm cap, because the locking tabs are positioned farther in (to match the inner diameter of the S5′s “trim ring”). That means the OEM cap size is 11mm smaller compared to the E-58U, which is the reason the E-58U will not fit as the S5′s OEM cap does.

This cap is designed to fit into either a lens adapter, filter, or lens with threads; which would be mounted to the camera. The locking tabs of the cap have threads on them, which are designed to lock into threads.

One thing the “default image” does not show very well, is the color of the lettering: “Canon” is silver and “Ultrasonic” is a brassy-gold. The letters also have a slight sheen to them.

The only minor drawback to this cap is the lack of a tether or a hole to accept one. However, there are a couple solutions to this, one of which was discovered by a fellow reviewer-

“M. Nascimento: Purchase a Lens Cap String with the 2 sided round tape button that you attach to the front of the lens cap.”

In closing-

If you are looking for a “replacement” S series factory cap, this cap is NOT for you.

If you have 58mm threaded filters, step rings, lenses, or a 58mm lens adapter and need a snug fitting cap, this is a great one!
