Not very happy with this purchase.
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
Well, less than six months after making this purchase, here I sit on a long Labor Day weekend with a dead tv. Back in May, I turned it off to go to work one day and when I returned that evening, nothing. No power. A week later, the Samsung tech came out, replaced the power board and left. Problem solved. Now, almost 3 months later to the day, same problem. The tech wont be here until the 10th to replace the power board again. My low rating is not about the performance and picture. That is among the best I have seen. My gripe is about the reliability and the fact that I didn’t spend the extra money for an extended warranty. When you spend this much for an item, you shouldn’t need an extended warranty, in my opinion.

Fine while it lasted

Very happy with this TV until this week. We were watching the US Open when the TV went totally dead with a brief hissing sound. It is just over eight months old. The repair service carted it away today (09/05/2009) and I probably won’t get it back for several weeks.

Seriously consider an extended warranty on this and other very large screen TVs.

I won’t go into detail like the other reviewers, their information was extremely informative in the months leading up to our purchase of this tv. We researched for a long time and if you need a technical review the reviewers on here do a great job. After reading pretty much everything on the 650, we purchased it in April. It arrived and the “dirty” white glove installation was fine. Two guys arrived and were able to get the tv set up but didn’t know why we couldn’t get any channels (they didn’t realize we had satellite I guess, not the smartest bunch). Anyway, hubby and I set it up later and loved it. A few weeks later we thought we had a pixel out, I was preparing for a battle based on some of the reviews, but the Amazon guy was amazing. No questions, very polite, it was a few minutes before close and he apologized profusely that he couldn’t set up the return that very second and would do it first thing in the morning. He called very early the next morning and also sent a confirmation email immediately about the exchange. The new tv arrived quicker than the first but this time it was ceva (the first delivery was a different company, don’t the have name right with me). Ceva sent one old fart to pack up old/bring in new tv. Ridiculous!! Wait til you see how big your new tv’s box is. I had to help him take it down and switch it out. He had to drag the box across the carpet, which left marks. Had I been older or incapacitated in any way I don’t know what he would have done. Regardless, we love the tv and have been very pleased with Amazon.

Excellent TV but better models out there right now.
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I bought this TV in August 2008 and at the time, it was the best 52 in LCD TV for the price. Highly recommended.

However, I am surprised that the price has NOT changed much since last year. Given the price of the TV, I think other models might be better value.

Take a look at Samsung LN52A750, same TV with DLNA compatibility and about $500 less with free shipping. A saving of more than $600.

OR for the similar price, look at Samsung LN52B750 which has better dynamic contrast ratio and automotion plus at 240 Hz. So for similar price, you can get better features.

Don’t get me wrong, I still love this TV. Excellent for HD TV and with PS3 for blu ray. But for today, I think better TV or better deal is out there for the price.

Right Choice.

I don’t know how helpful a review of a product at this time when it is replaced by new product, But I was helped by tons of review of this TV right here on Amazon.com. So, I thought I should share my happiness as well.

I bought this TV in May this year and extremely happy with it since then.

Happy Birthday

I bought this TV a year ago for my husband’s birthday not only was it his favorite gift then but it still is. The picture quality is fantastic, it looks great and the price was fantastic. Plus the white glove service set it up and made sure it worked properly.

Right Size

This LCD TV proved to be exactly the right size for the space. Good picture. Little distortion. Some connectivity issues with other Anynet devices: knows it is connected but reports that it is not.

Great Picture But After 1 year
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
TV was purchased on 07-15-08 and is used lightly only for cable and DVD viewing. Sixteen days(16) after the initial warranty expired (thank goodness I purchased an extended warranty in June) the TV did what sounded like a power reset and died. I am waiting for the repair folks to examine it, but it looks like planned obsolescence to me. I will post another review after I talk to the repair folks. It was great, while it lasted.

It took three weeks and numerous phone calls to get the TV fixed. The power board, that looks similar to the motherboard on a computer had to be replaced. Total cost zero, due to the service agreement, but without it would have been about $350.00. Picture is back to normal and just beautiful. Service is somewhat lacking.

If I had to do it all over again I might have gotten a Sony. Lets see if this repair lasts!

WOW – We have had this a year and I am still amazed at the picture

I am not sure if this is still available but I am sure the newer 240 Hz models are incredible as well. I do not use the tv speakers I have the Samsung surround unit. Now I am saving my pennies for the LED version! I would reccommend this or any similar model highly.

Also – the shipment was fast, and the isntallation help was great – no need to borrow atruck and lug it from the store!

Awesome TV
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
After doing a lot of research on LCD HDTV’s I finally settled for this Samsung LNA52A650 52 inch HDTV. Since the day I bought this item there’s been no looking back. The TV image along with the colors is absolutely stunning and for the price I paid there was not a better deal to be had. Set up was fairly easy and together with the surround sound in place it is really fun to watch movies and sports. There’s nothing negative for me to report. Thank you Amazon.

Samsung LN52A650 – Great TV -Great Price – problem free Delivery
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I waited until I had the TV for almost a month to write a review, so I could ensure I had no problems that might occur. The TV has worked flawlessly, the picture quality is fantatstic. The remote is no where near as bad as some reviews have suggested. The price was a great price, no local electronics store or National chain even came close. Also other major web based stores’ prices were not as good as Amazon. The White glove delivery was perfect. The driver brought the TV in to the house, unboxed it, set it up attached cables, turned it on and checked many channels. He also asked me to examine the TV from top to bottom for any scratches or flaws. I can’t say enough good things about the servcie. I absoluetely love the TV.

I received my TV on the estimated arrival date. There was an issue with the internal components, but Samsung fixed the TV 2 weeks later. I love this TV!

A Super HDTV…
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I purchased this TV at the end of January after the Super Bowl. The purchase price has since gone up some $400 on Amazon so I count myself lucky I got such a great deal. The delivery wasn’t exactly white glove but the boys got the TV out of the box in one piece and placed it on my stand. As the other reviewers have noted, the picture is absolutely superb. Deep blacks, bright whites, stunning color contrast. If you’ve bought this TV and want to “wow” your friends, pull up the daylight tracking shot of Hong Kong from “The Dark Knight” on Blu ray. No words can describe the clarity and picture quality. At its current price, I can’t say I’d recommend buying considering you can get the 52 inch Samsung 750 240hz version of this TV for only $200 more. If you do decide to take the plunge, you won’t disappointed. I’m one happy customer.
