Definitely lives up to the hype…

I don’t have a super indepth review of this TV. Just a cut-to-the-chase review.
PROS:
- Amazing color
- High Definition sources look awesome. It’s REALLY hard to watch something in standard def 4×3 after seeing what this can do.
- Sweet design
- Easy enough menu navigation
- 120 Hz is a little hard to get used to. But this can be done in “stages” through the menu (off, low, med, high, auto)
CONS:
- Dreadfully slow response time when switching inputs. (I do this often, as my Mac G5 is connected via DVI-to-HDMI cable to one of the inputs and I switch between TV and PC often.)
- Picture-in-Picture works as long as one of the inputs is “TV” – as in the antenna. So if you have a cable box or satellite dish, forget it.
- Shipping was a bit of a headache. I got to pick the day, took that afternoon off work, only to have them call me to say it would be one day later. Waiting another day is not that big of a deal, but when I rearranged my schedule for this delivery day, it’s hard to turn my life upside down to match the delivery schedule.
- 120 Hz is a little hard to get used to. (a pro and a con)
That’s all I got, really. The bottom line is that I would purchase this TV again in a heartbeat and definitely have recommended it to other people.
LCDs have come a long way
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This television is spectacular! I watch a lot of sports and I couldn’t ask for a better picture. The sound is great too. I’m very glad I went with this LCD rather than a plasma. I can’t see any difference in the picture quality and I don’t have to worry about burn-in.
Only con I see is the controls on the front panel of the TV. You totally cannot see them at all, even if you look closely. You need a flashlight to see them. Otherwise, great TV.
Best Picture Ever
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Received my TV last February. Best picture I’ve ever seen on television. Sound is very good but not great but most likely would be if enhanced with just a cheap sound system. Football and movie viewing is outstanding and shows not in HD, while good, or mostly ignored now. I did watch the old movie “Shane” the other day that was not in HD and it was great. Movies from that period had outstanding pictures and color. If your set is as good as mine has been you’ll enjoy TV viewing much more. If you purchase this set I believe you’ll be very happy. I don’t see how viewing can get any better.
Turns on and off by itself:)

I’ve had this tv for over a year and it shuts on and off by itself. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Also, when they designed the flat screen tvs, who’s idea was it to put the speakers in the back of the tv? It’s very difficult to hear unless you are standing behind it. If a tv is going to be mounted on a wall, it seems ridiculous to have the speakers coming out of the back of it. Poor design. I am going to buy a set of speakers for it, but I will never buy another one.
Excellent TV

I have owned this TV for almost a year now and have nothing but praise to offer. The picture is superb and the sound is good.
I have attached:
1. Satellite HD
2. Over the Air HD
3. Tivo HD
4. Computer
5. Bluray
6. DVD
7. Broadband
Everything works as advertised and looks fantastic. I ordered from Amazon.com and was shocked with how fast it was delivered. I had possession of my new TV two days after I ordered it!
It does have a shiny screen that reflects light and creates a bit of glare. You need to plan the location of your TV/light sources to minimize this. The picture is so bright and vivid that I have never found this to be that big of an issue.
If you buy this TV I’m sure you’ll be happy with it.
Cheap DigiCam Appearance
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I’ve now viewed two Samsung LCD tvs including this model. They both have the same disconcerting problem that others may call a feature. Yes, the picture is sharp. However, objects in the foreground are excessively sharp and well defined relative to the background. It makes me feel like I’m watching the program through a cheap digicam. I don’t know what you’d call this effect but I can’t call it a good viewing experience. Now, that picture ‘feature’ may be good for football games but not for network tv shows where it’s the most pronounced. It’s evident to a lesser extent on movies. I would not buy this tv.
Never buy high price electronics from Amazon or small electronics stores
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I bought this TV about nine months ago and recently, it started to show verticle lines. I called Amazon and they differed me to Samsung. I called Samsung. They were very polite and scheduled an appointment to fix my TV. The techinician had to come back three times to fix the TV. He suggested to buy high priced electronics form big chain stores such as Best Buy, [...] or Sears as they are classified as Class I stores to receive the best quality prodduct. The Class II stores, such as smaller chain stores, get the B quality products and lastly, the C grade products are sold to online clearance such as Amazon. He indicated that majority of his service calls are for the TVs purchased through online retail places. My TV is fixed for now and keeping my finger crossed as I only have few months left on warrenty.
Great picture before display/picture stopped working.

The SAMSUNG LN46A6501F worked great until it stopped working.
I purchased this exact LCD TV from Amazon and 4 months in, but (as of yesterday) there is never any picture (and the firmware was up to date) and now the TV turns itself on and off intermittently.
If there’s never any picture then I cannot see any menus to try and troubleshoot. From other user boards, this appears to be a common issue for Samsung LCD’s. Looks like I have to have the entire main board replaced. Am in process with Samsung on that. I am writing now as this appears to be a common issue within the first 4-6 months of the SAMSUNG LN 6 Series.
The other reason for the 3 stars is that Samsung’s user documentation would be improved by adding a one-sheet with the standard set up info. If Apple can do this, why can’t other vendors?
Incredible TV at an outstanding price.

First off, I purchases this TV through Amazon warehouse deals which is the arm of Amazon that sells the “open box” items. These are usually items that have been returned or have minor cosmetic damage to either the unit or the packaging. When I purchased this TV, the description said that the set had minor cosmetic damage on the housing and the screen but when it arrived I examined thoroughly and honestly I could not find even the most minor of blemishes anywhere on the set – anywhere.
Once I was done being astonished by the condition it was in, I put in a Blu-Ray disc (in my samsung BDP-1600) and fired it up. Oh. My. God. The picture is just incredible. With the 120hz auto-motion, it is simply amazing. There’s no juttering, no sloppiness, nothing. It honestly looks as though you’re there on the set of the film.
It’s been repeated over and over again here in these reviews how great this is and it’s true, it is. So, I just decided to place this review here to a) further that impression and b) let anyone who’s considering ordering from Amazon warehouse deals know that it is definitely a good idea – you will NOT be disappointed.
All my research paid off!!!

I have had my TV for well over 8 months now and it runs perfectly.
I had upgraded from a previous Samsung that was only 13 inches. So needless to say it took some time to get use to the picture size.
One thing that many have not comment on is that the TV produces a 3D like effect where the people in the foreground do stand out from the background. Some people complain about this but I think it makes the scene very realistic and gives you the feeling you are there. All friends and family agree with me. . . If you still fell its an issue after a while your eyes get use to it and it is not noticeable.
At the time this is one of the top of the line models, and even though LED is coming out driving the price down of all LCD models I purchased this TV because I knew it had longevity. Why well its 1080p, 120Hz, a high contrast ratio, and the Samsungs I have purchased have lasted me over 13 years! I believe the TV now cost 1300 dollars which I believe is still worth the value. I got it at 1500.
Of course you need to have HD channels to really see the worth of the TV, but it does a fairly good job on none HD channels. I have a PS3 and playing COD or watching a blue ray (even non-blue ray) looks amazing on the TV. Granted you need an HDMI cable and PS3 enhances regular DVDs. Many are blown away by the detail it shows.
So what are some of the downsides we can’t always be biased. The TV runs hot. . . it needs to have a spacious room so the heat will not overwhelm a room. I usually keep a fan on when I turn on my TV just so my room stays cool. Also when you turn it off it always makes a sound to notify you that it is turning off. I personally could have done away with that. Tried to find the option to mute it but didnt find one.
Misc. tid bit.
The TV turns on relatively quick within 5 seconds. My family has a Sony Bravia and that takes forever (15 seconds) to turn on. Though it is a small thing I find it important.
I would recommend this purchase to anyone looking for a quality LCD TV that they can still enjoy with the fact that LED will soon take over the market.
Still the best TV after a year

I’ve had my Samsung for nearly a year now. I pulled it out of the box and have never had to make any color adjustments or any other adjustments because the images were simply stunning right out of the box!! I absolutely love this tv and would recommend it to anyone looking to make a purchase. The colors are true and saturated. The whites are very white and the blacks are real black. There’s never been any of that blurring when the subject of the image is moving fast. The 120 handles it just fine. I can’t say enough about this TV. After a year I have no complaints at all!
A great deal

This tv is a great deal because you can, play blu-ray, 4 hdmi imputs, and 120 hearts a mintue. Me and my family got this tv after doing some reasearch. We think it’s a great deal, so we recomend you buy it. (Deatails listed at the bottom:
1: It is a LCD tv.
2: It ia a 1080p.
3: It runs at 120 herts a minute.
4: It’s a Samsung (with a touch of red color.)
5: It;s 46 inches.
6: comes with assemblind materials, ac cord, and cleaning cloth.
Beautiful

Beautiful display for the price. We only have a handful of HD channels, but they look great. For the price this was an excellent choice for us. I don’t use a lot of the “extra” features, like ethernet connection, or ability to plug in a usb drive, but nice knowing they’re there.
I do wish the Standard def channels looked a little nicer. But when you’re magnifying the signal into a bigger screen (we replaced a 32″ set) You’re bound to be unhappy with the picture.
Watch the prices. This was cheaper than NewEgg here at Amazon by $100… Was the other way around the week leading up to the purchase. Glad I came back to check.
Solid choice!!
Best. HDTV. Ever.

Oh. Wow. I have had this TV for six months now. I originally purchased a Samsung 52-inch A550, but it was too big and it stuttered playing Blu-ray movies due to the 60hz refresh rate. So I traded it for the A650.
Every time I turn it on, its like being transported to another reality. Seriously, the color depth, the clarity, the contrast — everything on this TV is pretty much, well, perfect. It is loaded with features, including this auto-smoothing effect that makes standard 24- or 30-fps content feel like its playing at 120fps, and it causes a really eerie, all-too-lifelike effect, like the TV isn’t a TV, its a Window, and all the action is literally taking place in front of your face. I leave this feature turned off, its just too intense for me.
I’ve never had a technical problem with the TV. Its super easy to operate, the menus are friendly, and the “Red Touch of Color” — which at first I worried would bother me — adds just the subtlest hint of elegance. You barely notice it unless there’s light from behind, and then its actually kind of cool looking.
I can’t say enough good about this product, but I don’t want to talk your ear off — I will just say this: If you are thinking about purchasing ANY HDTV in this price- and/or size-range, you’d be doing yourself a favor to take a good hard look at the Samsung 46-inch A650.
Very good TV but not that into the whole ‘touch of color’ thing.
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I’ll save the more substantive reviews for the real videophile types, and just say that I think the picture is better than on some of my friends’ slightly older TVs and much better than a four year old Samsung plasma that I have. Bright, good blacks, no motion blur to speak of. Good tv.
I docked it a star though because of the ‘touch of color’ business. It really isn’t that obtrusive or annoying, honestly, but a) why does it only come in red and b) why don’t they make this tv without it? Again go look at one, and you’ll likely find it isn’t a massive issue, but I definitely would have chosen a plain black frame if I had a choice.
I don’t find the remote to be too bad, as many do. Maybe I haven’t been exposed to many remotes, but they all seem more or less the same to me when you get used to them. Maybe if I really had a true universal remote I would change my tune but as for a regular old remote, it seems fine to me (though I do wish they would make more remotes using bluetooth or other similar technology instead of making us rely on line-of-sight infrared technology…seems very ten years ago that we mostly still use IR remotes).
