I checked out many reviews and searched for the best deal I could find before making this purchase. This was a great choice.
Sony Bravia LCD

Could not be happier with the purchase and with Amazon. The Bravia set is as advertised, Sony quality for under $1,000. While this unit does not have all the “bells and whistles” of more expensive Sony units, it does not compromise on picture quality. I saw this set next to the competition at a ‘big box’ store and there is clearly a difference. I am glad I did not settle for less. I added one of the inexpensive Bravia surround systems for <$300 and now have an excellent home theater system.

This TV is an Excellent value for the money. Phenomenal picture and I could not tell the difference between it and the higher priced Sony. I love the features, piano black finish, and picture quality. I highly recommend this TV. So much so that I bought one more for my bedroom !!

Pulled this TV out of the box, plugged it in, connected it to the cable looks great. Sound out of speakers fine. Have home theatre. Easy remote and menu for setup.

I purchased the Sony LCD Bravia 1080p HD on Amazon.com about a month ago and I have enjoyed the product immensely because of the clarity of the unit. It was so simple to order the TV on Amazon.com and there was no shipping charge. I strongly recommend that anyone looking for a great deal on a TV to try one of the Bravia models (Any size)
I also have 46″ Sony WEGA which is great.

This TV looked great in the store, but without HD signal it is total waste of money.
I have analog cable, it is good with older TV’s.
This TV looks terrible, compared to older Toshiba/Sharp/Magnavox.
But the real problem it is defective out of the box: has ¾” wide defective LCD stripe on the top of the screen. It is even visible without powering up.
But of course I could not see it or turn TV on, when it was brought in from the cold.
Support sucks, first technician would repair it, then I will get refurbished unit, then
I will get brand new unit.
Well, now I am waiting for shipper to pick it up and sent back to Amazon.
Do yourself a favor and buy less expensive brand from your neighborhood store, at least you can see what you getting and in reality you would not see the difference.

No headphone jack or night mode

This is my first ever HDTV so I can’t compare it to others, but I am consistently blown away by the image quality when watching BluRay movies and playing PS3, and can’t imagine how it could be much better.
However, I live in a small apartment and bought a pair of headphones for my wife so she could watch her girly TV series in private, … until I realized that there is nowhere to plug in external headphones. It has RCA-out for an amplifier, but no headphones? Come on, even a $50 black & white telly has that!!
While on the subject of sound: when watching BluRay, the difference between soft and loud volume is so great that I constantly find myself increasing and decreasing the volume. This TV could really have benefited from a Night Mode, and sadly the PS3 does not seem to have one either.

the tv arrived when scheduled. it was hand delivered by freight company. they set it up and everything works. great price, best value. tv looks and sounds great. i am totally satisfied. i should have ordered hdmi cables with tv, but i ordered later from amazon for 1.55. they work just as good as my neighbors who paid over 80.00 for the same cables.amazon ROCKS.

The Sony Bravia S-Series KDL-40S4100 40 inch LCD TV is fantastic. The picture is great and the sound fills my living room and both makes me feel I am actually in the picture. Some say it is slow in changing channels. Yes but if you hit the enter key after the number buttons it changes quickly. Unlike the newer version this model does not have the problem of going dark in dim scenes. It also receives all in the clear digital signals on my local cable system. Excellent Picture and Quality

This is my first LCD HDTV purchase and I decided to go with Sony and I am very impressed. I checked out different brands and was most impressed with Sony. The biggest thing I noticed from other brands was how the picture brightness and clarity dulled when viewing at a side angle. They would only be clear viewing straight on. Not Sony, at any angle the image was always bright and clear. I’m very happy with my purchase! Only negative part of my purchase was the delivery. Amazon used Pilot as the carrier. They supposedly call you to establish a delivery time. They had an incorrect number and I ended up calling them. My unit arrived a couple of days late because of this. I suggest to call them right away just in case they do have a different phone number on file.

I dont have any complaints about this TV, it does everthing i need it to do. I am very satisfied. Colors are good, sound is good and shipping was exceptionaly fast.

People, I got this TV at my local SONY store as an open box for 40% off the listed price. Let me tell you, this is the best money I have EVER spent on a TV. Once my good ole Panasonice tube from the year 1995 finally conked out, I knew I needed to bring myself “up to date.” Being that Panasonic is lost in the plasma world, I turned to Sony AND WHAT A GREAT MOVE! This TV sits in my somewhat little condo living room in Washington, DC and boy does it make the room POP. I checked out other brands, but none delivered the crispness and clarity that my Sony delivered. The other reviewers are correct, it does take a few minutes to power up. Please dont be alarmed (i wasnt because i Had read the reviews). Also, the speakers are pretty good. Make sure you set your tv to Dynamic for the best sound. I watched American Idol last night and thought the speakers did a pretty good job.
If you are looking for a great TV and can find the right deal, this is the TV for you. Be patient, either online or at your local store, with the right timing, you should be able to walk away with a decent deal.
