Once again, Sharp, the leader in LCD technology, has established a new design standard for LCD TVs. The new LC32D64U AQUOS raises the bar by fitting a large screen size into a incredibly small footprint. By changing the layout of circuits inside the LCD panel and by cutting the number of parts, Sharp’s engineers were able to reduce the depth by 30%, allowing placement of the LC32D64U model in virtually any type setting. The LC32D64U utilizes Sharp’s proprietary Advanced Super View/Black TFT Panel with multi-pixel technology, providing 10,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio with Enhanced Picture Contrast Technology and 6ms response time. The LC32D64U is a HDTV with built-in ATSC / QAM / NTSC tuners and include 2 HDMI inputs, compatible with 1080p signals, a PC input and 2 HD component video inputs. Side terminals are included for convenience as well as RS-232C input for control. The LC32D64U features a sleek piano black cabinet with subtle, recessed bottom-mounted speakers. Features: 1) Full HD 1080p (1920 x 1080) Resolution for the sharpest picture possible. 2) 10,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio and 6ms response time produce spectacular picture quality. 3) Two HDMI Inputs and dual component for the ultimate in terminal flexibility. All inputs are compatible with 1080p sources. 4) Wide Viewing Angles (176°H x 176°W) Sharp’s AQUOS viewing angles are so wide, you can view the TV clearly from practically anywhere in the room. 5) Enhanced Black Level provides the deepest, most accurate black of any flat panel TV. 6) High Brightness (450 cd/m2) AQUOS LCD Televisions are very bright. You can put them virtually anywhere – even near windows, doors or other light sources – and the picture is still vivid. 7) Built-in ATSC / QAM / NTSC Tuners provide access to DTV and analog TV channels. 8) AQUOS engine with ASV technology provides high performance video processing for the brightest, most vivid colors and images. more info

Taking HD to a new level
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I was looking for an new TV to replace my older 100-pound flat screen, that could be used for my PS3 blue-ray as well as a computer monitor for college. The TV only weighs about 25 pounds and is extremely easy to set up, a couple screws, plug it in and you’re set. The picture is gorgeous with about six presets and fine-tuning options, easy to set up, easy to use features. I compared this model to a few others in the same size and price range and for about $700 it was well worth it. The brightness is automatically adjusted depending on the atmospheric lighting, so it will get lighter or dimmer depending on how bright it is in the room. It has a USB outlet in the side to hook up a camera to view on the screen, as well as an option to turn off the screen and just hear the speakers if you have satellite radio or an MP3 player. Overall the picture and sound are amazing as well as the clarity and contrast. If I were to ever buy a second TV I would definately go with another Sharp Aquos, it brings high-definition to a whole new level.

Fantastic TV

I replaced my old 720p 42″ Samsung DLP for the improved clarity and quality of this fine machine. It’s clear, reliable, and makes my Xbox 360 and Blu Rays look incredible. My only complaint is that I wish I had money for a slightly larger model (but really this one is perfect for my needs). Some people have complained about clarity of cable (duh, if you don’t have HD cable, it will look kind of soft. No HD TV will make standard cable look any better. I got used to it until I can afford HD cable). Others have complained about motion blur (as with any TV, you need to muck with the settings. I turned off the OPC, black level expansion, and DNR as they weren’t doing much in the positive sense. I found that having them off vastly IMPROVED the picture and completely eliminated any blurring or color bleeding). Finally the sound. It’s not bad, but I have a sound system (just an old AIWA stereo with nice speakers) so I don’t even use the TV speakers. If you are considering an HDTV, I highly recommend Sharp Aquos (not plain Sharp), Sony Bravia, and the new Samsung lines. Go LCD or LED and spring for full 1080p or you will regret it later. Trust me, you’ll just end up buying a 1080p set later if you buy 720p now.

GREAT TV FOR A GREAT PRICE
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I was very happy with my old 19 inch analog TV and was really not able to afford an HD TV until I looked on Amazon and found the Sharp Aquos LCD HD TV 1080P 32 inch LC32D64U model. Not only was it affordable but they didn’t skimp on quality. The picture is crisp and clear. The set up was easy and the extra features are easy to use. The base was easy to attach and fits perfectly in my living room…not too big. I placed my order on Thursday and received it the following Wednesday…fast and free. Thanks Amazon for making a really nice TV affordable to one and all.

Generally great TV
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I really wanted to buy a Sony, but the 1080P version was too expensive and when I saw this Sharp 1080P at a super low price, I bit the bullet and bought it.

Pros:

* Great picture for HD and DVD content.

* The sound is great. I don’t know what people are talking about.

* Generally nice looking TV.

Cons:

* SD content looks bad, but I don’t think it’s an issue with this TV. If you enlarge a low resolution picture, then it’s going to look bad on any HD TV. If you’re buying an HD TV, plan on upgrading your TV to HD.

* I don’t like the piano black finish. I know it’s really popular right now, but it attracts dust, scratches look terrible and I just think it looks generally cheesy. I’d much prefer a matt black.

* I had a few minor issues with the Tivo remote. It seems like the OPC function that automatically dims the TV in low light sometimes interferes with the Tivo remote. Most of the time it works, but it’s an occasional frustration.

* The remote is too big and poorly laid out. I mush prefer the simple Sony remotes. Fortunately, I can just use my Tivo remote most of the time.

makes a great computer monitor for gaming
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
The size is great for playing games, of course, and the resolution looks good. The colors are better than my other LCD monitors I’ve used, including the Dell 2407WFP-HC. Response seems better too.

Because of the size you can see some jaggies when sitting real close (desktop), but not bad at all. I like using it for email and web browsing. Photoshop reveals the resolution limitations with this size screen (jaggies). But it still serves for that if you need it to.

The only thing I don’t like is the silver trim on the bottom bezel. But it’s no big deal. Minor cosmetic. Overall the TV has a nice look to it. It feels nice and deluxe.

The buttons work well, and are conveniently placed.

It would be kind of nice to have more than two HDMI inputs as well. I don’t know why they bother with the VGA input on these. Why not drop a DVI plug right there. But no one seems to do that.

DVI to HDMI adapter works fine and is cheap on amazon.

Shipping to my door was successful, but could have gone bad. TV was double-boxed, which is good. But the outer box had partly opened up and lost half its peanuts. So I almost refused the shipment based on that except that it still looked ok.

TV was easy to setup. Attaching the base required screwing some metals parts together.

I’ve never used it to watch cable tv, so I don’t know how it would look or if the channel-change lagtime really is annoying like some people say.

I would recommend this TV to others, but I’m sure by now they have replaced it with a newer model.

I had reviewed several brands and decided to order a Sharp Aquos. I am pleased to say it has met my expectations. The first one I received was damaged but the company quickly replaced it with another that wasn’t. I am satisfied.

Good TV, But I wish I knew more before I bought it.
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
First off the transaction was almost perfect. Had a scare when the TV didn’t show up on time, but that was due to a major T-Storm moving through the area.

TV was easy to install, lighter (weight) than I thought it would be, worked great right out of the box. The primary use is for my PS3, gaming and Blu Ray DVDs using a HDMI 1.3 Cat 2 cable from [...].

ISSUE: I also have my PC hooked up to the TV (DVI to HDMI cable), I was surprised at how low the resolution is on the TV. It’s not 800 X 600 bad but its around 1200 X 1000, I haven’t quite pegged the exact resolution. The bigger problem is the RCA jacks to get the computer’s sound through the TV. They don’t work at all. Did a google search and this is a reoccurring problem with SHARP TVs. The only way to get PC sound would be to by a sound system.

Bottom line: Audio wiring BAD, Rest of the TV GOOD.

The worst user interface I’ve ever seen
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I own one of these. It has THE WORST user interface I’ve ever seen on a TV. Glaring flaw #1: no way of manually switching between 4:3 and 16:9. If you’re connecting it directly to cable (as opposed to connecting through a box), it gets a lot worse. The automatic channel scan apparently fails to discriminate channels on which there are video & audio signals from those on which there are none. This leaves the user with the option of either clicking through literally hundreds of channels with nothing on them, memorizing the channel numbers of what you want to watch (e.g., 108.31), or spending 30-45 minutes — I’m not exaggerating — designating channels to be skipped, a procedure that is far more arduous than it should for be for digital channels because of the kludgey menus. Strangely, the channel skip procedure is significantly easier for analog chennels. It’s baffling that the manufacturer didn’t make it the same for both categories of channels. If you only use the TV as a monitor, the kludge interface is less of a problem, because you won’t have to deal with it as much.

Sound
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
Beware the sound is awful. If you have any background noise at all you aren’t going to hear this TV.
