If you would like to know more go to your local stores, or read some more of this great reviews.
I forgot to mention in the review that the tuner inside picks up many channels and the HD channels off air are amazing! Just as great as a 1080p set, but listed as a 720 it works 1080 gorgeous.
Amazon.com has the most affordable price listed on this set.
I know how valuable time is, so this review and all of mine is done is 3 minutes even.
Outstanding value Rating:4 out of 5 stars After shopping all over the net and all the major retail chains, I was never able to find a small, affordable LCD for a bedroom. Everybody had 42″ sets for $500, nobody had anything decent for around $200. Finally ended up at a regional electronics chain where I found this gem buried in the back with Coby, Viore and other junk brands. This Toshiba was the best by far, rivaling much larger sets. In the end, I had to choose between this Toshiba and a similar Philips. What made the deal was the complete range of inputs on the Toshiba: S-video (a must for me), VGA, two sets each of HDMI, and component, and 1 composite for games or whatnot. Many lower-end sets sacrifice some or all of these inputs meaning you’ll have to go swapping plugs all the time. This Toshiba has it all covered.
Setup was easy. The stand pops down and has a slide lock. Plug in the power (two-prong plug) and video source and go. After letting it warm up, picture quality out of the box was very good. The brightness was a touch high but that’s normal for a new TV. It found all the local HDTV channels very quickly (something my old HDTV converter could never get the same twice) and properly labeled all of them. A basic thing but important. OTA picture is great, very solid and clear. 1080i signals look great even with down-conversion. Connected to my satellite box over the S-video, the picture is sharp and bright and looks as good as I have ever seen it. The set appears to handle legacy 480i signals just fine which is more important to me than HD performance.
Connected to a Wii over component video, the 480p signal looks as good as the Wii can. Not pushing the set very hard here. Have not tested the HDMI connection since I don’t have any HDMI devices. Also have not tried out the PC VGA connection.
Sound-wise, it does sound tinny as other reviews have said, which is why I only gave it four stars. But the set does have an optical out feed for use with a stereo system, and RCA audio out as well. Lots of ways to run the sound through something better. I am sort of glad the set is more concerned with picture than sound. Toshiba seems to have thought this way on purpose: you can totally disable the TV’s internal speakers via the audio menu. That said, the speakers are fine for everyday use. Most people can live with them just the way they are if they turn the bass up to full.
The remote is functional and decently laid-out. The only notable thing is that you have to use the input button to switch inputs. Many TVs let you use the channel up/down buttons for this. Not Toshiba. The remote will control a Toshiba DVD player if you happen to have one. My Tivo was able to adopt the Toshiba remote codes on the first try.
For me, one test of how well a product works is how far into it I can get before looking at the manual. Most men are probably like this. Happily, I have not yet needed the book. The setup menus are intuitive and clear and simple.
Conclusion: an excellent choice for a kitchen or bedroom or anyone on a budget. The value for the price is outstanding and there are very few compromises. Highly recommended.
Works great Rating:5 out of 5 stars We use the Toshiba in our bedroom for movies, playing Wii and as a computer monitor. It works great for all those purposes. Found it easy to use and set up. It was a great buy for us.
Just Awful Rating:1 out of 5 stars First let me say that I own several Toshiba products so I didn’t think twice about Toshiba quality before purchasing this set. What a mistake. The set comes shipped with its base turned 90 degrees so it will fit in a smaller box. I was unable to get the stand turned back to its normal position. I couldn’t even remove the base if I wanted to mount it on a wall. No instructions in the manual. No inserts in the box. Nothing on the web site. I’m a fairly resourceful and tenacious person, but I finally gave up. I assume it was defective but I’ll never know.
Awesome Little TV!! Rating:5 out of 5 stars I just returned a piece of junk Coby 15″ TV and purchased the Toshiba 19″ 19AV600U for my kitchen. What a great TV. The picture is awesome, the viewing angle is great, and the feature set is better than most similar TVs. I really like being able to re-label the channel descriptions because I don’t have a cable box and the HD channels are all over the place. I can label them and then save them to the favorites, which makes them easy to scroll thru. I thought I would save money with the Coby but what a piece of junk. It had a very poor picture and a terribly limited viewing angle. The coby stopped working after two days. I am very happy with the Toshiba and I’m sure you will be too.
Good small room tv. Rating:5 out of 5 stars Very good picutre and good, acceptable sound (which isn’t the norm for tv’s this size). Easily mounted it on a Peerless articulating arm.
Great so far Rating:5 out of 5 stars I have had this tv for 6 weeks and so far it is just what I wanted. Fits in our kitchen just fine and is still big enough to see your program from across the room. This tv is hooked to an antenna and with the new hd signal we get an excellent picture. The speekers are in the front and has plenty of volume to hear it. I am still very happy with my purchase.
Awesome TV Rating:5 out of 5 stars This television is exceptional. Not only for the price, but the picture is incredible. I love it and when my other 2 small TVs (that are at least 10 years old each) bite the dust, I’m going to buy 2 more. Reading other reviews for this helped me decide to purchase this brand. I’m so glad I did.
Great tv, perfect for kitchen Rating:5 out of 5 stars This Toshiba 19 inch LCD has a great picture and good sound quality. It was purchased to be used in the kitchen area and has worked out well. I would recommend this to anyone needing a tv for a limited space.
Toshiba 19 inch HDTV Rating:5 out of 5 stars What a joy. We really like it. For years we have had a 10 inch CRT TV in our kitchen. We recently installed Verizon’s FIOS so I decided to buy the smallest LCD TV I could find. Then found this in Amazon’s outlet warehouse as an open box item. I don’t know why we waited so long to buy and LCD TV. Its great.
This little TV rocks indeed Rating:5 out of 5 stars Only time will tell if this TV will last but I recieved it just several days after I ordered it for my elderly mother who wanted to replace an old TV in her bedroom. For now the unit will only be used as a regular television with nothing else attached to it.
The TV was super simple to setup. The colors are great and it is meant to be watched from at least 5 feet away I would say and you will see a clear picture. Mom will be watching it from about 8 feet away.
I was concerned about the other reviewers’ issues with the attached stand but mine only had plastic wrap which I easily removed. You then rotate the stand to its proper position manually. There is a switch that you will see once you rotate the stand, to ‘Lock’ or ‘Unlock’
My TV also came with a comprehensive manual and the box itself had illustrations for the basic unpacking of the unit including the rotation of the stand.
Very impressed so far Rating:4 out of 5 stars Just picked this up at Best Buy for around $225 (only because I happened to need it quickly one night) and I have been very impressed so far. The picture – both with an over the air antenna and with an upscaling DVD player with an HDMI connection – has been incredible. When you look at these sets up close in the store, they look a bit grainy. But when you’re at the proper viewing distance (6-8 feet in this case), they look razor sharp as they should. I’ve been amazed at the quality, and glad I waited for this one to come down in price and relied on the earlier reviews here and elsewhere.
Sound is good enough, though if you put in a CD in your DVD player to listen to through the TV you will definitely notice it’s not as good as even a small stereo. Other reviews suggest this is as good as it gets. There are no volume problems though – I had considered getting the TV/DVD combo version of this, but some of the reviews suggested there were problems with the volume when playing DVDs. This one has no issues like that when hooked up to a DVD player. Most things I watch at quarter to half volume, so no worries about not being able to hear it.
All in all, an excellent purchase, especially given the price. I’ve only had it a few weeks – if I’d had it longer I’d give it 5 stars.
Great TV for the Price Rating:4 out of 5 stars I bought 4 of these last year when the price was $300 each. I thought they were a bargain then, and now they’re only $225.
I use them in my bedrooms hooked to cable. The TVs don’t get a lot use but they look good when they do. You can’t beat the price if you need a TV this size.

Found this product to be highly unsatisfactory.
Could not make brightness and sharpness adjustments to make much of a difference, the picture just stayed too dark for my taste.
Picture also disappeared when viewed from the side.
As a result of all of the above, I returned the set for a refund, the day after it arrived.
