Excellent for the money and what I use it for.
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is an excellent computer. The last computer I had cost me about $2,600.00 and it lasted me about 5 years, which I guess is good in computer years. I spent under $500.00 on this netbook and I’ve been able to accomplish all the same tasks that I did on the previous one except for maybe video editing, these netbooks don’t really come with anything special when it comes to video cards. I love the portability and the battery life of this netbook.
Decent Netbook
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I decided on this item after researching several others online.
Pros:
1. Great battery life (about 7 hrs)
2. Light and extremely portable
3. Looks good (if you like black)
4. Decent sound for the size (better than my Lenovo T61)
5. Good size keyboard (for a netbook)
Cons:
1. Price
2. A dedicated “end” button would be nice
3. Not great for lots of typing
4. A bit slow (it is a netbook with a slower processor)
If you can live with the cons, this is a great machine, I use it as a second machine and have made my T61 into a desktop
. My wife got an Acer EEE PC at the same time, this is such a better buy.
Exactly What I Needed

This little netbook is awesome. I did a lot of research before I purchased this one. I saw all of the reviews about the screen, how the sound isn’t as good as people thought it would be, etc. The sound is fine…what were people expecting? The screen is also fine – there is nothing wrong with it. I have had it for a little over a month now and no problems. It is also very fast at starting up and running. Surfing the web is a breeze. I have even hooked it up to my tv and watched shows on the internet through it. The battery life is also great. No complaints here.
Everything it says it is

Awesome product for a netbook. I bought this, plus the matching mini cd/DVD drive. I bought this to use when traveling because I was sick of lugging a full size laptop. Keyboard feels huge for a netbook. Loading programs is fast and easy. Runs as fast as you might expect from the processor it has. The battery on the first charge lasted a solid 5 hours (it was supposed to be 7+, but I thought 5 was great). The only drawbacks are: The matching samsung slim drive takes up 2 of the 3 usb slots; the power cords take a little too much space – they should have made the thick electrical cord very short and the thinner cord longer so they take less space, and the biggie – the speakers which are supposed to be better than on the last version are still really bad – use headphones or the speakers for your mp3 player for good sound. One important note: It comes with a little neoprene-like envelope for transport/protection when traveling. I don’t know why it isn’t mentioned in any of the descriptions.
Pleased so far

This mini is light and small, boots up quick and the screen is large enough. I upgraded the memory to 2GB as others had suggested, but I’m not sure I have seen any noticeable improvement. After about 3 weeks of use, I’m happy with this purchase.
Great keyboard, screen could be better
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I love this netbook because it actually has a keyboard that’s big enough to touch-type on but is still significantly smaller and lighter than most laptops. I use it for real work every day without a problem.
The screen is decent…others have mentioned the odd resolution, but I just autohide the taskbar and it’s fine. A bit too shiny, but out of direct sunlight I find it quite useable.
Performance is like any netbook…good for basic tasks, but don’t think you’re going to play games or watch HD on it. I use it for surfing and word processing and it’s fine.
I liked the look of the black better than the white (which is a pearl white, not a crisp white)…but was advised that the white makes it easier to see the keyboard and such in darker rooms, and I have to say it’s true. My old black laptop was very hard to see if I were looking for a key (remember the placement of auxilary keys is spaced differently), but this one is much better on that score.
Battery life is excellent. Build quality is first rate.
I upgraded to 2GB of RAM and it made a significant difference, although it was decent before.
All in all, not a good choice for your only machine, but as a portable, it’s great.
One awesome and oh so portable computer

For me the keyboard size and weight were important considerations. I am technically inclined and spent several weeks reading specifications and reviews. I finally decided to take the plunge and purchased the N120. I could not be happier! The screen is easy to read, the keyboard is fantastic, the memory and cpu speed are completely adequate. While I bought the netbook to travel and to take with me to the city, it has become an amazing entertainment center when it’s at home. I plugged it into our sound system and LCD television’s VGA input. The sound is great and I can play 1080p resolution on the TV. Cloning the display is a right click away and then set the resolution to 1920×1080 and put on the HD content. Woohoo!
When traveling it finds the access points in range and quickly connects when I select one. The fact that the netbook easily fits into my knapsack and weighs so little is a huge plus for me. We use the computer to offload our camera’s photos and back them up to a USB memory stick. The SD reader is conveniently located as are the USB ports.
There isn’t a thing I would change about this netbook. Kudos to Samsung for some truly awesome design and implementation.
Good Netbook Terrible Tech Support
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
This is a well designed & functional netbook. Specifications are similar to others but esthetics are well thought out. I give the netbook a 4 star however the tech support from Samsung is terrible and gets 1 star. They do not even know the specifications of their own product. I called in to get more information on the 2 Chargeable USB ports on the left side that are suppose to charge USB accessories even with the computer off (when enabled in the bios). 2 of the tech support guys did not know this feature existed and I had to guide them through their own manual to where this feature is highlighted. I found out on my own that these 2 Chargeable USB ports can only charge a limited range of accessories. Apparently there is not enough power going through it when he computer is off to charge an iPhone. I was able to charge my bluetooth headset when the computer is off. Samsung should be more specific on this feature and have better training for their tech support people. One other thing – BEWARE of driver updates. I had updated the drivers based on recommedation from Samsung Update Plus and it completely screwed up my WLAN. Called tech support and they were fully aware of this problem but Samsung did not warn their customer base on it. I had to reset the computer to it’s original state which deleted 2 months of working files and loaded software right before a lengthy business trip.
Excellent performance, light, long lasting battery
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I satisfied the performance, light weight, and long lasting battery.
I bought this netbook as a secondary labtop to use when I go out.
I don’t neet to bring the charging set, cause this netbook lasting enough to use.
One thing that I think unconvienience is keypad, because the function key at bottom left and window key at bottom right should be placed oppositly.
So, I can control the brightness of screen and volume with one hand.
also Home and End button.

Excellent little computer, very good screen resolution, excellent webcam and sound. Very pleased, and it arrived two days earlier than expected.
Picky Points
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Mine arrived fast, in good shape, ~ 18 Sep 09. Really like it so far, but haven’t wrung it out yet … primarily due to my shallow level of experience with PCs.
Ordered an external drive, too. It came the next day. Is about as generic a drive as you will ever see. Instructions are a small (5×7?) size card, folded into 4 “pages.” Mixed Japanese characters, and very poor English. NO, NONE, ZERO, 0, Nada, identification of manufacturer. But, it seems to work.
Primary complaint with the netbook is its function keys. The keys in general are white lettering on black surface. No problem there. BUT the function icons of the function keys are tiny, and printed in blue, located in the upper left corner of each key; and of course they are dual-function (groan) instead of dedicated keys like on a desktop. Back when I was tech writing for a living, we would have called it “4 point eyestrain agate,” but I think these are 2 point, not 4. Of course it may be that I am an old geezer, and wear trifocals. Whatever their size, they are just too darn small!
Battery really seems pretty potent. Have not run a timed test, but it is lasting way longer than I expected. I plan on using the unit in car on long trips … when I am doing any navigating when spouse is driving. Would like to plug it in to car’s 12 Volt power source, (aka Cigarette Lighter Socket) but hate to plug in a male 12VDC->110VAC converter, then a male 110V cord plug which feeds a power block (unlabeled) that feeds another cord which feeds the N120. If anyone knows of a 12VDC plug that can feed direct to the N120 I would appreciate hearing of it, and how it worked for you. Or somebody.
I’ll revise, hopefully improve, this when I finally get the N120 on the web … here at home via a Verizon connection, or in a motel/hotel/etc.
Lightweight and very long battery life
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I travel internationally a lot for conferences and I grew tired of lugging around my full size laptop. Furthermore, I am a keen photographer and sometimes shoot in excess of 10 gb of photos a day. To accommodate all of the photos, I needed some means of storing my photos while travelling and a netbook seemed ideal. I did a bit of research before deciding on the Samsung N120-12GBK and I am really happy with the choice.
The major pros about the N120 are its light weight, the small size, the large keyboard and the long battery life. The battery life especially has really surprised me. I am actually writing this review while sitting in the economy class seats of a 747-400 and the portability, the keyboard and the battery life make the N120 ideal for business travel. I have also been very pleased with the way the N120 runs Lightroom, especially after I opted to upgrade the RAM to 2gB. The display is bright and I am pleased with the appearance. I would never do serious photo editing on the N120 due to the small size of the screen and the system requirements of Photoshop, for example, but for the purpose of storing and sorting photos the N120 has worked well for me.
I was also pleased when I received the N120 to find that it was not inundated with trial software as my Dell laptop was when I received it. I had originally planned to wipe the hard drive of the N120 and to rebuild it using the system DVD supplied by Samsung, but this was not necessary.
My only gripe about the N120 is the mouse buttons. One of the selling points for me about the N120 was that the mouse pad is large compared to other Samsung models. However, the mouse button is actually only one button and you need to press either on the left or the right size to generate left or right mouse clicks. I would have preferred two buttons because I am always trying to press in the middle, but that is just my opinion.
Overall, I am very pleased with the N120. Everyone who has seen it or tried my N120 has been impressed. I would not hesitate to recommend the N120 if you are looking for a netbook, especially one with phenomenal battery life.
Great!

The Samsung Netbook has a good size keyboard which is great for typing. I love the speakers built in on the side. The 6 hour battery works great also. I would recommend this netbook for those looking into purchasing a lighter, more mobile way to be connected to the internet.
2nd Try No Better
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I was very interested in this laptop because of the good reviews and keyboard size. I also liked the battery life particularly on the blue model. However the first one I received right out of the box the screen didn’t work. I tried again thinking I got a damaged one that happens on occasion. The second one I received worked great until the initial battery charge was up and I had to plug it into the AC charger. It would not power off of the AC charger. The charger was working fine but it would not power the laptop. A five for Amazon and why I shop here refunds with no problem.
Great battery life, easily portable, excellent quality– an all-around great buy!

I did a lot of research before purchasing this netbook and I have had it now for about 6 weeks. I haven’t been disappointed. I was looking for something that would be portable (I travel a lot for work), reliable (I want it to last a few years) and budget-friendly. My main uses are word processing (I am writing a masters thesis), other MS Office applications and general internet use.
My four main concerns when looking at netbooks were:
1. Battery life (I had heard that some only last 2-3 hrs at most)
2. The comfort of working on something with a small keyboard and small screen
3. Being able to stream things online (I had heard that it would always be very choppy on a netbook)
4. Getting MS Office on it since I already had the CD Rom with the program but the computer doesn’t have a disc drive.
My Samsung netbook has an awesome battery life (I am guessing that I get somewhere from 6-8 hours; it’s hard to calculate since I haven’t yet used the whole battery life in one sitting). It took a little getting used to working on a small screen but I can’t feel the difference in the keyboard. I have also watched lots of videos streaming online and have never had a problem.
Finally, I figured out that I could download a trial version of MS Office 2007 onto the computer, and then use the product code from my MS Office 2007 CD Rom to turn it into the full version and not just the trial version.
The only thing I don’t like is that part of the mouse touch pad has a scroll. I find that I accidentally run my finger over it when using the touch pad and suddenly my page is scrolling. I was disappointed that you cannot turn this function off (I tried) but I am getting used to it. I also have been able to plug in a small mouse which makes it even easier to use!
Overall I am really pleased with my purchase and am glad that I spent a little extra money for a much better computer. I would highly recommend this product!
