MSI Wind
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Pros:

Lightweight, keyboard, lovely web cam and face recognition feature, HD space, 3 USB ports, recovery Drive

Cons[mostly minor]:

Battery is only about 5 hours (some netbooks are ~10hrs). Light indicators are below keyboard (would be better on top). The forward slash [/] is small and hard to utilize. Video screen only opens approx. 110 degrees.

Details:

A few little things could make a big difference. The cons are small in the grand scheme of things. You have to look at your situation for its importance. I keep battery mode on turbo with screen on bright so battery may last significantly longer without those. If you don’t use the forward slash, not big deal. As far as the screen, I like to look at my netbook while sitting on bed. Sometimes I would prefer the screen to open just a little more than it does.

I purchased the MSI netbook so that I could take my work on vacation without being bogged down by a full-sized laptop. I recently spent a week at the beach with it and found it very easy to use, completely capable and ultra-portable. It boots up quickly and has all of the memory that I need.

ive owned this netbook for 3 days and its running good. it feels solid and light weight. the only complaint i have is that the mouse button feels cheap and uneven (so you really have to hit the center of the button)if you hit the button on one side it might not click and get stuck. also, im not sure what material they use but it seems to be a dust magnet. it attracts dust and the dust sticks to the surface.

Bad battery and hard to set up wireless connections.
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
Bought this item to replace our Dell 700 (as a travel computer) and was very disappointed. It took us a long time to connect to our wireless at our own house. Then we brought it with us along with the Dell 700 to Europe for a three week trip. (the Dell was brought with us a gift to someone else). The battery worked for 5 days after that it was dead and refused to take a charge. It was almost impossible to get the wireless to work, while our old Dell was up and running in no time. Maybe we just got a bad unit, but it’s going back to Amazon for a refund.

The System that turns heads!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I am so proud of my new MSI Wind U120-024US (Black & Whie 2-toned color) model! I have see some complaints from others of a loud fan. Not on my unit. It sounds normal and when I use headphones for music and movies, the fan is unnoticeable. Some said it lacked a user-manual. Well, I’m all for saving trees and I hope a lot of us are. The walk-through on the 1st system boot up was easy & straigtforward. Then the User Manual had an icon right on the desktop. So those who had to visit the MSI website were just wasting time. However, I found the cam turn-on & set up confusing. But when I clicked the “help” button, the site it launched me to was helpful on the first try. The keyboard is comfortable, and everything works great as expected.

The faults I find on this system are common among most netbooks. Namely: the right and left mouse click buttons require a lot of pressure and don’t always respond right. That’s why I usually use a portable mouse. It ships with XP and 1 GB of memory (max) which is adequate for the uses it was made for.

I love this machine and recommend it to everyone shopping for a netbook!

Battery life is plenty long, comes with windows xp, looks great, has a large enough keyboard, the fan is quiet, and is small enough to carry around comfortably. Wireless signal is always strong as well. Make sure to disable the mouse pad when typing or you will probably accidentally click it. Overall A+

This netbook is more trouble than it is worth
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
My ex husband bought two of this netbook for my two girls. One unit has a wireless device that keeps losing its settings and intermittently disconnects. The other unit has a poorly constructed battery compartment. It was nearly impossible to remove battery without a knife the unit is so tightly constructed. Other unit is not like this. This wouldn’t be so bad, except windows xp keeps freezing up. Software was so out of date it would not connect to a second generation wireless network without multiple windows and wireless device upgrades. Also unit is a nuisance to make go into safe mode. One of the girls found a vunto virus and it took me several days to find the keyboard combination I needed to make the thing go into safe mode in order to repair. Keyboard keys are cheap plastic components not sturdy enough for teenagers.

Frustrating Experience
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
Received the order in a timely manner. Set-up was absolutely horrible. Could not get pass the Windows XP page where you click on your user name. Tried to get technical support – not available on the weekends at all. Decided to register product (only way you can get technical support). Got to the registration page, clicked on the link to help identify where the necessary numbers are – link is no longer available! Furthermore did not receive an instruction booklet with my order. This company should be ashamed to sell a product this way.

Seems to be a very nice little computer. I use it mostly for email and web surfing and it is fine for that. Note that the 1G memory is not expandable. The keyboard is large enough that it doesn’t feel cramped. The speakers are terrible, so if you want to listen to music (or anything else) plan to use earphones. It is a little difficult to open the lid, and when fully open the computer tends to be top-heavy – it’s easy to tip backward – a minor inconvenience, IMO.

Review of netbook.

I really like the computer and all of its features. It was shipped as expected. However, I have been less than satisfied with the customer service. The company web site is very confusing and I have yet been able to register the computer. No warranty information was included with the computer and no information as to how to contact the mfg. I finally found a number and called and left a message to have a rep call. I have yet to receive a call. Very poor customer service.

I own a treatment center of kids… and use lots of computers for the kids. I bought 3 of these… the screens cracked within 3 months on one and within 6 months on another. I also own 3 Apple macbooks, 1 dell laptop and two IBM thinkpads… all for several years without any problems… MSI said I caused the damage and wanted to charge for the repairs… Better to buy something new that will last for more than a few months.

Works just how I need it to
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
People have already mentioned some of the flaws: memory not expandable, keyboard is small, wireless needs to be turned on out of the box, etc. But honestly, those are very minor. The computer works great. It traveled with me all throughout Europe this summer: I kept in touch via Skype using the built-in web cam and mic (which also need to be enabled upon first use), used email, wrote Word documents (Microsoft Office sold separately), uploaded photos and pretty much did everything on a computer an average person needs to do. No complaints. It fit nicely in my backpack and was an easy travel companion. Now I use it whenever I need something portable. It’s not a supercomputer, but for what I bought if for, and for the price, it’s perfect.

Fan is making some loud noises, I guess this is common. Only solution is to return or void warranty to fix.

3g is suppose to be built in, I can’t seem to get it working.

This little mini baby is great for browsing, compact to carry it.what I did not like about this laptop is that is not RAM upgradable. 1Gb is all you will get. there is the other model call MSI WIND123H that is a best choice because it has a high resolution camera and it is upgradable for up to 2GB.But make sure that if you purchased the wind123h you must purchased a single module 2GB RAM memory I strongly recommend that it is worht it since windows 7 is coming up in october.
