Solid Campaign and Great Online
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Overall, I have found countless hours of enjoyment out of this game. Halo has never been my first pick for first person shooters, but Halo 3 has changed my opinion of the line. Campaign was fun on all levels. Online play is the strong part of the game. I found ranked and unranked matches to be competitive but not over the top. One thing I didnt like were the required map packs that needed to be purchased to play certian game types online. Also, I feel these map packs were lacking in quality content. Good game for something you can always pick up and play between other games. 4 our of 5

Great game for casual gamers

I played Halo: Combat Evolved for many hours over the past few years. I have finished Halo: Combat Evolved on Normal, Heroic, and Legendary, and thoroughly enjoyed this entertaining, innovative game. I eagerly awaited Halo 2 and when it came to market nearly 5 years ago, I bought it on the day it came out and went to bed at 3 or 4AM after playing so much. It was an improvement w/ better graphics, more weapons, etc.
I finally purchased the XBOX 360 and Halo 3 this week, 2 years after their arrival, and I’m pleased. It helps I have a large HD TV, and the graphics, sounds, music, etc. are all noticeably better than they were in either one of this game’s 2 earlier editions. I do agree with the reviewer who said that it’s less of a challenge as the Brutes don’t have the armor the Elites do – but don’t at least some Brutes have some kind of armor, which falls off after you shoot them enough?
I have not gotten far yet as I just got it, but I’m playing it in heroic. In my experience, as challenging as the first two Halos were, there was a noticeable difference in difficulty between normal and heroic, only for the game to become FAR harder in legendary. I have never finished Halo 2 from start to finish on legendary (I can’t get past Cairo Station, believe it or not), although I’ve played Halo 2 on other campaign levels.
I have yet to use some of the new weapons and vehicles, but based on what I’ve seen so far, Halo 3 is a solid addition to the Halo Trilogy. I will probably play Halo 3 on XBOX Live later on, and will probably get my butt handed to me by hardcore gamers… but it’s all in good fun.
I am still getting used to the new gadgets (blue shield, bubble shield, invincibility, etc) as I’m not yet fully used to the toggle; on several occasions when I meant to use one of these gadgets, I used the left trigger and inadvertently fired a grenade. Blue button, blue button.
I will probably be done w/ the game next week, and then, I’ll play it on normal… it’ll be a breeze as I’m fighting my way in heroic.
Get it… it’s worth it.
Possibly one of the best games ever made for XBOX 360
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
In my opinion this is the best game hands down that has ever been made for xbox360! I have actually burned through 3 discs because I play the game so much. The campaign is great but the online play is where Halo 3 really shines.
Great things about this game:
-Fantastic sound effects – they change based on the character that you use, spartan or elite, male or female.
-Beat downs – melee attacks are great to finish off an opponent after you unload a clip into them.
-Online matchmaking with thousands of online players.
-Many maps available online.
-FORGE mode: you can create your own maps using theirs as a template, then you can invite people from online to play them with you. They can even save the maps on their xbox to use for later.
-Don’t understand why that person just beat you in matchmaking? Go to the theater and watch the game from their perspective.
-Trash talk other players as you pound them into spartan pulp.
I could go on and on, but the main thing is that no game library is complete without this title! Buy it you won’t be sorry. This game is not recommended for children as the online play can get a little mature over the microphone and headset – from other players.
Halo 3

I waited this long to finally get this game that everyone has. I’ve played it before, played a lot of the other two Halos. I purposely waited til now because the price was so good, even better than buying it used at GameStop.
I received this Halo3 very quickly, it was a very good price, the disk wasn’t scratched or damaged, it also came with the manual to the game in very good condition, and even came with a small Halo 3 poster that came with the game when it first came out (which I wasn’t even expecting to get).
This buy was a great buy and I would buy from this seller again.
Not bad, nothing special.

I tend to talk a lot so here is a TL;DR: Plot is hard to follow without previous Halo knowledge. Shooting works. Campaign is short. Online play saves this game from 3 stars, but costs extra for all the content and requires Xbox Live. If you do not have Xbox Live Half Life 2 has a better campaign and if you don’t want to spend a lot of money for online play I had just as much fun with Team Fortress 2.
I have to tread carefully here because I can’t help but think anything but a 5 star review of this game is going to make me a bullseye for fanboy rage. The thing is, I did not find Halo 3 to be the diamond encrusted gift from the gods many of my friends made it out to be. It certainly is far from bad if it got a 4 star rating, but it is not great either.
I played but did not finish both Halo and Halo 2 by mooching off friends. I (at the time) was one of those mildly protected teenagers who’s parents did not think their child needed an M rated game about an armored space commando putting bullets through aliens who couldn’t seem to decide if they wanted to be a formidable threat or just comic relief. I’ll try to keep the plot summary as short as I can: You’re an armored dude who starts the game by falling through the atmosphere and through sheer manliness is able to get up and begin clearing the earth of all the aliens you don’t like with some help from aliens you do like for some reason I can’t really explain because I was shooting at them in Halo 1. Anyway, the bad guy aliens want to use some alien technology buried under earth that we haven’t noticed for millennia to make some rings shoot lasers everywhere but instead it opens up a portal then some more aliens come who are basically the zombie apocalypse in that they just want to kill you then eat and reanimate your corpse and you have to go through the portal the aliens opened up to stop them from shooting their ring lasers and find a way to stop the zombie aliens without blowing up earth…yeah so I don’t entirely get it. I don’t even know why I bother, chances are if you want story you’d play an RPG. When I want to play a FPS all the story I need is “Here are some aliens for you to shoot”.
Now for the important part of First Person Shooter, the shooting. Combat in this game isn’t anything special. The weapons are all human/alien versions of your generic Machine Gun, Shotgun, Melee weapon, Sniper Rifle, Pistol, Rocket Launcher, and BFG6000. The small squishy aliens are very receptive to bullets and the large aliens can take an alarming amount of ordinance to the face which can be a real problem when one of them is running you down with a hammer. Then there are the zombie aliens of whom there are such ridiculous numbers that I didn’t have enough ammo to kill them all on single player, and co-oping legendary with a friend we kept having to kill each other so we’d respawn with all our ammo. And here is the “but” the fanboys have been waiting for, just because it isn’t special doesn’t mean it is bad. Ultimately the shooting works and the only real issue I have with gameplay is that it was short. Even on legendary it only took my friend and I 7 hours to complete the game.
One of the things that brought this game up from 3 to 4 stars was the music, and I’ll keep this short since I know not that many people care. Its hard to describe though, at one moment you could be listening to haunting vocals as you gaze upon some mystical alien structure, then the alien heavy armor rolls in and we switch to a fast paced guitar track with an orchestral accompaniment, and then they mix both together which created an effect that gave me chills the first few times I heard it. This alone brought the immersion factor up 2 fold. Unfortunately I can hardly recommend you buy a game for the music alone so we must move on to…
The multiplayer is why I believe most people recommend this game. The Xbox Live support for this game is top notch, and there are a variety of maps with a variety of objectives to ensure that boredom is difficult to accomplish. They even have separate ranked/social matches so the casual gamer can find refuge from the hardcore. After testing the waters a bit in social slayer, I decided it was time to show off my manliness and dive headfirst into ranked matches. And that is when I discovered 90% of the online content requires you to spend another $20 and hour of your time to download all the various map packs they’ve added so be prepared if you want to enjoy playing online with the best of them. Truthfully without the online play, this was a 3 star game for me.
To sum this up, Halo 3 is nothing the world hasn’t seen before, and without the online play I wouldn’t recommend it. If you’re looking for a single player first person shooter, go buy Half Life 2. If you’re looking for good online play, I had just as much fun with Team Fortress 2 for a LOT less money. And if you’re going to get both you might as well get The Orange Box so then you will also get the game that IS a diamond encrusted gift from the gods also known as Portal.
good fps

Warning to New Buyers: Majority of Multiplayer Removed
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
Halo 3 is a great game as I’m sure everyone knows. What a lot of people may be unaware of is that the developer, Bungie, has recently begun blocking the vast majority of online multiplayer modes of this game from anyone that does not purchase the Halo 3: ODST expansion pack. If you purchase Halo 3 today out of the box you are currently only able to play 3 of the 14 available online multiplayer modes. This may be reduced even further as time goes on. Right now however you can only access the other 11 multiplayer modes by purchasing every single available map pack on Xbox Live marketplace. Halo 3: ODST will add 3 more maps unavailable for download and will most likely become an additonal requirement to play these online multiplayer modes. Regardless of what the developer decides I think it’s important for new buyers to understand that Halo 3 no longer ships with the same extensive multiplayer modes that were available when the game first launched; unless you make a number of additional purchases from Bungie. Also it’s important to note that the way Bungie’s multiplayer playlists are setup it is possible for the map pack purchases that you make today to become obsolete within months as the majority of modes require you to purchase every single map pack soon after they are released. This is a highly unusual business practice and worth noting to new customers who may be expecting a robust online multiplayer experience out of the box.
In stark contrast to this, Epic has just released Gears of War 2: “Game of the Year” edition which includes all downloadable content for FREE (19 additional multiplayer + deleted chapter) out of the box.
Good multiplayer game
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Decent game that continues the original story. Either you are a fan of the story or you’re not. Co-op multiplayer is a big plus. Also, the online community is very strong and active.
Halo 3 Is Just Plain Fun!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Halo 3. Ok so almost everyone knows about this game/franchise by now, even non gamers. Halo 3 is an amazing sci-fi type first person shooter mixed with human military, excellent choice of weapons, armors, and rides to be driven in (and people and enemies to kill in them!). This game is very fun and replayed solo play. The campaign mode is great, and each mission is actually challenging, yet fun at the same time. You really learn Halo history here playing through this game if you have never played a Halo game title before.
Ok, now to talk about Halo 3 online play. One word, WOW! Absolutely incredible, breath taking, insane (Ok, I’ll stop rambling on about words describing how fun Halo 3 online play is
). Basically it’s the best online FPS I’ve ever played as far as rankings go, different matchmaking types, the maps, and even the kind of games to be played on the maps.
That’s right. You don’t just kill each other online, there’s modes like the capture the flag, and king of the hill mode, which when you read the titles are pretty self explainitory, and all of the online modes are a lot of fun. This game may have came out in mid 2007, but it is still very playable in mid to late 2009 and adleast 3 more years I would say in my humble opinion. So, what are you waiting for? Go pick up this game already, and get in on the action!
Best of the Halo series
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I was hesitant to buy Halo 3 because Halo 2 left me a bit disappointed (back in 2004), mainly because it wasn’t any better than Halo 1 (only the dual weapon wield and getting rid of the annoying health bar were improvements that stood out). But I now know that my fears were unfounded. Halo 3 is much improved in several ways. The biggest is simply the bump to HD. The environment and enemies look better than ever and it really helps immerse you into the gameplay (assuming you own an HDTV, and if you don’t, you are really missing out…HDTVs are worth the investment, the details really come to life). There are many weapons available as well (a few new ones also), which adds new dimesion to the ways of killing the opponents. The story is actually solid as well and doesn’t disappoint. The game really shines on the harder difficulty levels. Easy is not very fun because it is not challenging. Be sure you play the game again on Heroic to get a better experience. And it gets even better on Legendary, but only if you are patient, as death will be visiting you a lot. I am a harsh critic and this game did not disappoint me. Enjoy!
Second Copy of the Game, Does that say anything?
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I love this game and all its extras. Creating maps and game types! I have had the game since it first came out and its so much fun. Had to buy a second copy because my brother isn’t the best with putting games back in there cases :-p.
[Xbox 360 Platform] Halo 3
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This was a GREAT buy. The lower price than most caught my eye. Disc is in perfect condition – however, there is this crack on the casing that was there when I opened the package (Idk whether this happened in shipping route or whether the knife I opened it with cut the case. Overall, great product!!!
A weaker plot but better combat
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
As far as shooters go, it’s hard to get better than “Halo 3.” The graphics are spectacular, the AI is adaptable and the action is constant. Although the plot is a little thinner than it was in the previous installments, “Halo 3″ is the killer app of games today.
The third chapter of the trilogy keeps what worked in “Halo 2″ and added some new features (“Ripping the plasma cannon off the turret and going Rambo on the grunts? Sure!”). There’s also a new “accessory” slot for things like portable shields and regenerators, which are nice but take some getting used to in terms of using. They are not mandatory by any means however – my first run-through from start to finish on normal difficulty saw me never use one of them.
Grenades have changed slightly – there are two more kinds (anti-personnel shrapnel and incendiary), but as an equalizer you can now carry only two of each kind now. You can see how many of each you have at all times now, which is a bonus.
I also like how the Skulls are now in Normal and Hard difficulties in addition to Legendary, because although I’m not a Halo freak I like some of the variations the skulls let me play with.
A drawback to this game is that it’s more linear when it comes to mission design – usually all you can do in rush in headlong and slug it out. I would have liked to see more sniper rifles/rocket launchers lying around – you do get chances to use them, but they are few and far in between – to give those of us who like to “soften up” an area first or to do some sneaking around to have some fun. That said, the sheer amount of in-your-face frenetic action is a blast sometimes, especially as you run around in a platoon of grunts with a gravity hammer
All in all, this is the best of the 360 console to date, wrapping up the original trilogy of what has become THE video game franchise of the decade. It’s not perfect, but it’s close and a lot of fun: what more do you want from a game?
Garbage!!!

If you a hardcore HALO 1 fan like I am am you will not enjoy this. Most of the reviews are right saying that this game is geared for online play. I was blown away by Halo 1 and I still play it. All the halo’s are good I guess for playing with your friends and talking smack ofterwards I guess but they have changed the game so much from HALO 1 gameplay that they should have gave it a different name. All in all I bought this game..beat it on the hardest setting and sold it. Not worth it in my opinion. The graphics are the same if not worse then the previous Halo’s. So I dont see why they didnt put it out on regular xbox too. Thanks for reading.
