MacBook Pro is even more powerful with the latest Intel Core 2 Duo processor. Up to 250GB of storage(2) and 2GB of RAM make the MacBook Pro bigger on the inside and faster than ever. Next-generation NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT graphics and 802.11n-based AirPort Extreme wireless capabilities(3) keep it on the cutting edge. And now Multi-Touch technology comes to the MacBook Pro in an advanced trackpad. Encased in lightweight aluminum and one inch thin, the MacBook Pro packs astounding performance into a stunning design. Love it!

I really love this Mac and the different software that came with it. It took about a week to get used to it, after using a PC for years, but I could never go back to a PC now.

Don’t hesitate

The price may be a bit daunting for some but it’s well worth it. Even so, Apple has recently announced price cuts on Macbooks, Macbook Pro’s and Macbook Air. Also, the OSX 10.6 named “Snow Leopard” will only cost existing OSX 10.5 owners $29 for the upgrade when it’s available in Oct. 2009.

Very high quality all around. I can’t say enough good things that haven’t already been said. Go get it. You know you want it.

I am so completely satified with this Mac its awesome! Im so glad I have a first generation too, it has fire wire ports and i can plug it into a different monitor for presentations or a larger work space! The new ones dont have these features! Mac removed a lot of features from the new ones because they realized they could get people to buy one with less for the same or a higher price! Do your reaserch!

missing ILIFE 08 software
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
Although the laptop itself is great I do have 1 issue. The technical description states that this laptop comes with ILIFE software including garage band pre loaded. IT DID NOT!

I called amazon and they told me the could not help me as the laptop comes from the manufacturer to me direct. They offered no solution to getting the garageband software. Amazon’s website offers no customer service remedy that I can find to help me!

Switching from a PC is worth it
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
As a longtime PC user I was hesitant to make the switch. After 6 months with this machine, I’m glad I did. It’s stable, fast, and everything just works. I thought it would take a long time for me to get used to the “mac way of doing things” but it really just took about a week. Now I’m hooked.

Incredible!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
wow ok my dad bought one of these about a year ago and i was kind of skeptical. the few times he actually let me use it (hes a bit obsessive about it) i was impressed. im currently in college and this thing does all that i need and then some. replaced my old desktop and im loving it. This is my first mac and its easier to use than windows, yet it also provides all the advanced functions i need to write software. There are so many things i can do with it. Currently i am dual booting with leopard and vista 64 bit.

Excellent computer from a company with amazing customer service!

A year ago I bought a 17″ 1.67Ghz Powerbook on eBay for 900 bucks. After playing with it for a week I noticed that there were white circles in the middle of the screen. In addition, the screen would go out when I adjusted it. So I took the Powerbook to the Apple Store and I was in luck because it had 6 months of warranty left on it. This had not been advertised in the eBay auction so I had expected Apple to tell me that I was out of luck. Anyways, Apple told me that it would be one week before my Powerbook was fixed. A month later I received a call telling me that it would be at least another month before they received the parts necessary for the repair. So Apple offered me a 17″ 2.5Ghz Macbook Pro in exchange for my old Powerbook even though this particular Macbook Pro model was released just a week earlier. I accepted their offer and traded in my old Powerbook, that I had bought just a month earlier, for this top of the line computer.

Since then I have used my Macbook Pro for taking notes and tests in law school, for playing Warcraft III and Call of Duty 4, for watching many movies with front row, and for picture and audio editing. This computer is magnificent and does all that I throw at it very well. The screen is very bright and the keyboard is a pleasure to use. I don’t think any other laptop has a keyboard like this (high quality feel and lights up). I’ve had a Compaq, Dell, Powerbook, and several iBooks and this computer blows them out of the water in every regard. Even the screen on this is brighter than that of the old Powerbook. If you’re into gaming then you’ll really appreciate this laptop. I play Call of Duty 4 with all the setting up without any problems.

My two complaints are that the sides of the top case started to come apart due to warping, creating a small gap, and that the button in the middle that opens the laptop is awkward and hard to use. Although nothing can be done about the button in the middle Apple did replace the case. This is obviously why Apple introduced the unibody Macbook Pro’s and scrapped the button in the middle and replaced it with a magnet.

An added bonus to this laptop is the 4 and a half hours of battery life and the magsafe connector. However, if I had a choice between this laptop and the newest version I would go for the newest one because of the unibody case and the 8 hour battery life. Nevertheless, the keyboard on this model is much better, it comes with a matte display standard, and it looks more professional since the entire laptop is silver rather than silver and black. The new model looks like a dude who just got a black eye. I suspect that any Macbook Pro will last many years and I look forward to spending the next 5 or more with this one.

OK product
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
The major problem was that the battery died after 2 weeks. Though i had it replaced for free by the warranty it caused some inconvenience.

Another thing is that mu particular laptop is a little bit skewed. There are some gaps between the lid and the body when the lid is closed. The middle part of the laptop touches the surface when put on the table. Stuff like that. It might be not that big of an issue, it just others me because my previous MB Pro was a perfect looking computer.

The performance is great, have no complaints about that.

Pro in every sense…
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is my first MacBook. I have been saving and calculating a lot since the last few weeks (since I decided it’s TIME to buy one…done with the waiting), but unfortunately could get to only the 13.3″ version of MacBook according to my budget. Unfortunately coz I wanted a Pro (15.4″). Put a little here and there and luckily Amazon was giving one at price for which i could try. So I pushed my budget a couple hundred dollars more…and bought the MacBook Pro MB134LL/A 15.4-inch Laptop.

It’s pro in every sense…250GB hard disk, 2.53 GHz Intel core 2 duo, 2GB RAM (you might say 4GB would have been greater, but with 6MB L2 cache, who needs that 2GB more)…and there is 512MB of NVIDIA GeForce DDR3 dedicated graphics card to help you run almost anything…

Slick
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Slick is the word I think of whenever I use my new Macbook Pro. I have wanted a MBP since 2007. I bought one from Amazon and had to return it for a defective Display. Amazon sent me another one and it too had the same problem so I sent it back and ended up getting an IBM ThinkPad T60p. Even thought my T60p is OK, I never got over wanting a Mac. So when the new Unibody MBP’s came out and the price of these went way down, I thought I would try again. Well, I am so glad I did. The display is so much better now and it is so fast. I love the new multi touch trackpad. I also like my MBP because it is just so gorgeous. That is not enough of a reason to get one however, but it sure doesn’t hurt.

MacBook Pro – beautiful computer in every way
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have owned one of these computers for two years now. As a student that is working and stressing for an average of 17 hours a day, this computer is amazing.

It’s entirely dependable, and even after two years, it doesnt feel like it has slowed down at all. The computer looks great, performs great, and the constant updates and enthusiastic fan community really make sure that every aspect of the computer is great.

Before purchasing this computer, I had two main concerns, cost and compatibility.

Compatibility – As an intensive user of Microsoft Office, I was concerned with the fact that the Mac version seems very crippled. Turns out that with the proper software (I like VMWARE), you can install a Windows system and run the windows version of Office. It’s a great solution, and the computer will not slow down much. As for all the other Mac programs, I love all of them. When I first started using my Mac, I couldnt get over how integrated everything is; it really feels like it’s YOUR computer.

Cost – at $1200 (the price this laptop is listed at), it’s a bargain. If the laptop cost any more, I’d definitely still consider a PC because there are some pretty inexpensive computing alternates.

Last years Apple Macbook Pro computer
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
The computer that I purchased from you on Feb. 20th, 2009 is very nice & the price was definitely what convinced me to buy the Macbook Pro over the regular Macbook. I did not need the more deluxe computer for my needs, but figured for only $300 more, it was worth it. I was very surprised to find that the computer you sent me was last years model & that is why the computer was cheaper. I did not read in your advertisement that the computer was last years model. I am disappointed & have had trouble with warranty issues as Apple shows the computer being sold in 2008. It took three attempts to convince Apple that I purchased the computer in February 2009.

I would have definitely purchased the standard Macbook for $1,299.00 through my retail apple store & had the new model with everything I need & the convenience of saying I purchased the computer from them, which is always a plus when needing service or help with troubleshooting or any problems.

I hope you will make this more evident in your advertisements in the future so people will be sure of what they are getting.

Sincerely,

Wyndell Williams,

Apple MacBook Pro MB133LL/A 15.4-inch Laptop (2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, 2 GB RAM, 200 GB Hard Drive, DVD/CD SuperDrive)

I have never used such a simple, enjoyable computer. The workmanship and quality of Apple equipment is the best I’ve seen. I would DEFINITELY recommend this phenomenal notebook.

Cool laptop, but over-priced
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
Mac is a good OS with better user interface and integration than Windows. Better tech support than some of the larger sellers like Dell, Lenovo and HP. Smaller target from worm/virus attacks compared to Windows (this doesn’t make Mac more secure, by the way). Better multimedia apps which are already part of the OS. Nice and hip design. I can see why so many people gravitate toward Apple products these days. Personally, though, I can’t justify the extra cost for having a “cool” laptop. And those extra features I mentioned are not enough to sway many seasoned PC users away from Mac unless one has money to burn….so to speak.

I recently bought Dell Studio XPS16 with following configuration for my wife: 15.4-in screen, 2.53 ghz w/ 1033 FSB, 4 GB memory, 500 gb hard drive @7200 rpm, ATI graphic card with dedicated 512 mb memory. I paid about $1250 including tax (free shipping). My wife needs a solid performance to run memory-guzzling applications like Photoshop, Illustrator, AutoCAD and Autodesk Ravit.

Similar MacBook pro on Apple website (with smaller hard drive and integrated graphic card) comes out to about $1860 with tax (based on CA sales tax). One listed here on Amazon.com has lesser hardware specs than current one listed on Apple website, but is still selling for $1500. You can do the math. Cool design matters, but not for extra $250 to $600.

Apple makes good products and made mundane computing products into something fashionable. And it also knows people will pay premium to get it. I may decide to get Mac one day, but definitely not at its current pricing. It’s simply overpriced for what it actually delivers.

Great machine, one very tiny problem!
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
My Windows XP desktop has really been showing its age lately, and as a college student I’ve been increasingly frustrated by not having a laptop. The computer labs at school are always packed, and professors are increasingly assigning online activities and posting lecture notes online — all of which it is very helpful to be able to access during class, without having to print out a ton of materials from the web at home. Besides school, I also planned to migrate all my photo processing and video editing tasks over from the XP machine to this one.

I have generally had to reinstall Windows XP on a fairly regular basis to keep my desktop running like new, and I’d been hearing a lot of things about how macs don’t have a lot of the problems associated with windows. Ultimately, I decided to definitely go mac after trying Vista on a few different PC’s and hating it.

I started doing my research. The new macbook pros had recently come out (the ones with the “unibody”), but after reading myriad complaints about the super-glossy screen just being obnoxious, I hastily bought this previous generation of Macbook pro with the matte screen option. If you look at it, the specs are nearly the same. OK, the RAM speed is 667 instead of 1066. The video card was the previous model from nvidia, although with 512 mb of dedicated RAM. To get comparable specs in the latest generation, you’d have to pay a LOT more (over half of a thousand dollars, *since amazon is so good at censoring dollar figures*)

Anyway, I’ve been using my mac for about two weeks now, and here are my thoughts:

This machine runs great. It’s fast. I really like OS X so far. The touchpad is great, and HUGE compared to others I’ve seen. AND it still has a button, which I prefer to the new MB pro’s giant buttonless pad. Scrolling with two fingers is SO much better than a mouse wheel or clicking the scroll on-screen. I purchased 4 gigs of RAM to upgrade this (it comes with 2). It’s a cheap upgrade, and I definitely noticed a difference right away. I’d recommend it. Someday I plan on upgrading the hard drive to a 500gb 7200rpm — again, not much money for a huge upgrade. The factory drive is just fine for now though.

Anyway, there was one little problem. After using the machine for a couple of days, I noticed a dead pixel on the screen! It’s about a quarter of the way from the left side, in the middle of the screen. I really had to think about sending the unit back for another one. If I hadn’t already installed a whole bunch of software and pretty much “moved in”, I probably would have exchanged it. I read about the problem online, and it’s not uncommon. Apple doesn’t even consider it a warranty issue unless there are 5 or more bad pixels. I thought about it, and after using the machine for a couple more days, I realized that in practice I simply did not notice the dead pixel. I generally only see it if I look for it — and unless the screen is all white, it’s pretty much invisible the rest of the time. I decided just to keep the unit, and the pixel really hasn’t bugged me since, although I subtracted a star because for the price, I really feel the screen ought to be flawless.

Anyway, at the end of the day this is a fine machine — I’d highly recommend it — especially if you think the high gloss screen of the new model will be a problem, or if you are faced with having to get a Vista machine. I’d definitely recommend OS X over Vista or XP. Hope that helps!!

PS, I’ve noticed that the price on these has gone up appreciably. If you think you want the older model, you might be running out of time! All glossy screen haters are gonna be snatching ‘em up!
