I love this 4-in-one.
Easy to instal, use, quality b&w prints (which is what I needed for); compact.
Love it and would highly recommend to anyone who does not need to scan from a book or non-lose page format.
Great for EVERYTHING

Really after looking at many different combo machines, this one definitely outshines them all. This is the one to buy!!! Easy to use, and you can find cheap ink for it anywhere. Best machine for your buck.

Great all-in-one for a jobsite office, but I cannot get the software on my laptop. The software is so particular about such things as screen resolution that it cannot install on the new 10″ mini-laptops. Why HP put in such stringent installation guidelines I have no clue. When I find a work-around I can give you a review on the printer.

This 3 in one device is just what I was looking for. The design is great and the functions/buttons are right where you need them no hassle to set up and start faxing, printing or scanning. The printer carries standard HP cartridges that you can get anywhere, uses regular paper and it prints well. I did not get a USB cord to attach to my laptop to print but I had a spare from my old printer. The telephone cord is a bit short and that too can be replaced. A good buy!
great, while it worked…

Worked for a month but after I came upstairs to use it again it wont turn on. No clue what is wrong with the unit. I tried mutiple power ports, no go. I’m very disappointed as the reviews on here led me to believe this was an okay printer. It worked fine under ubuntu too. Anyways, I called amazon and they’re sending a replacement I hope the replacement lasts more than 2weeks.
Problem resolved quickly ref. missing part…

Please read to the end for resolution. The fax itself is just what I wanted. What I didn’t want was to stop set-up to drive to Walmart at dark thirty to gat a USB cord that was supposed to be with my package to complete set-up. So I didn’t spend $61.80 total. I spent another $21.65. When I logged into Amazon for their packaging review (I bought machine from Amazon) they indicated I had no recent orders. Therefore, I couldn’t quickly ask for help. I found an Amazon customer service number online and called. Rep. Belinda, in just over a minute, apologized and promised to refund my credit card. I looked the next morning and it has been credited plus 35 cents (rounded off by rep) This was amazing service for a disgruntled, crabby customer. Good job and kudos to Amazon. And I’m back to doing my stuff with my new fax/copier/scanner/printer.
Just OK

The software shipped with the printer is disfunctional. I was about to give up on it but the software checked for and downloaded an upgrade which solved the USB erratic connection problem.
The software is the weakness of the product. I reconginize that it is a complicated device with a lot of features. With the upgraded software I can live with it.
I got it at a good price so I feel good about the purchase.
Piece of junk

I bought this because my old HP all-in-one, after giving good service for a few years, would not scan. Tech support was unable to correct this problem, although they tried very hard. I bought this to replace my old one, because I scan a lot of things: artwork, photos, etc.
I am surprised that HP are not ashamed to put their name on this product. Basically it is a fax machine, and the entire Users Manual is given over to setting up the fax function. There are no instructions about either printing or scanning. It looks like a fax and acts like a tricked out fax. It is impossible to use as a scanner because it has no flatbed. Small items cannot be scanned. It is flimsy and poorly constructed. I think it might be worth $20 or $30 for someone who needs a fax machine and is willing to go to a lot of trouble to set it up.
When I tried to print a test page or a couple of pages from the manual the paper invariably jammed. I guess the rollers were not set properly at the factory.

I purchased this all in one to replace an older Lexmark printer and I’m very happy with my purchase. I did “a lot” of research and read a lot of reviews. They are so helpful. I feel I got an excellent buy through Amazon. The HP all in one is much smaller than the Lexmark, quieter and very cost efficient when it comes to replacement cartridges. The print quality is excellent. I had a little difficulty in the set up because of the DSL modem, use of a filter, etc. but I am very satisfied with my HP all in one.
So far so good.

I’m happy with my new HP J3680 in all respects with the exception of ink cartridge life. I’ve noticed many other users report the same criticism. That will be less important if I find that refilling it’s ink cartridges myself is easy and successful. I used and was happy with it’s almost identical predicessor, the J4215, for 3 or 4 years.
Nice Little Unit

Bought The HP J3680 Officejet All-In-One to use as a stand alone color/black and white copier. I have been very satisfied with the quality of the copies it has produced. I am using it at home so my demand is not as great as a small office would be. I found the use of the fax ability to be very disappointing. I had hoped to use this function in a stand alone capacity also but found it would not function unless it was integrated with my computer. However, if you are looking for a nice inexpensive copier for home use, this unit will do the job.
Seemed like a good idea at the time…

After having good experiences with HP products in the past and considering the initial inexpensive cost of this all-in-one printer, I went ahead and made the purchase.
When the product arrived it was fairly easy to set up to my Dell laptop and it was compatible with VISTA. Both were concerns after reading some of the reviews, but didn’t seem to be a problem.
After having this product for a year, following are the pros/cons I have discovered:
First issue was that the toner is only good for about 200 pages, at that. This meant that I was purchasing 2-3 catridges a week. You also have to align the printer every time you change the cartridge, which in my opinion, is a complete waste of toner. Tried looking on the internet to find a way to turn this off, but to no avail. Customer service was also no help – from what I could understand.
Next problem is that sometimes it pulls several pages through at one time causing the printed page to be split up among several pages. You either have to reprint (more wasted toner) or in the case of a fax, either have them re-fax the document or get out the scissors and tape. Real professional!
Someone else mentioned that the quality of the phone and other components seemed pretty cheap. It is made of light plastic, thus it is lightweight. So, that could either be deemed a positive or a negative depending on how you plan on using it and where the unit will be located. For instance, it would fit quite nicely and it wouldn’t be too heavy for a TV tray.
For scanning, it seems to do just fine. I don’t have any complaints in that regards. Unfortunately, that’s not why I purchased it.
Bottom line…if you want an inexpensive printer and you don’t do a lot of printing, Christmas cards and labels for the holidays or an occassional school project, then this would be fine. But it’s not cost effective when it comes to a small business or home office set-up.

1) No USB cable to connect to the computer.
2) Picking up a phone call takes about 2 second to connect.
Have not printed because the lack of USB cable but the test print was good.
Good performance, and good combination of tools.

This officejet all-in-one printer works perfectly –so far– quickly and it’s really convenient to have all in one, and for a very reasonable price.
I have not used it as a fax machine, but I am sure that if one day I need to do so, it will work as well as it does for the other functions.
