Disc one features the original album masters of some of Michael’s biggest hits such as Billie Jean, Smooth Criminal, Human Nature, and Thriller arranged in the same sequence as they appear in the film. The disc ends with two versions of This Is It, the original and an orchestral version. This Is It is featured in the film’s closing sequence and includes backing vocals by Michael’s brothers, the Jacksons.
Disc two offers fans a rare listen to the early demo versions of classics She’s Out Of My Life, Wanna Be Startin’, Somethin’, and Beat It. This disc also features a recently discovered spoken word poem from Michael Jackson entitled Planet Earth.
Michael Jackson’s This Is It also includes a 36-page, commemorative booklet featuring exclusive photos of Michael from his last rehearsal.

I love the single this is it and the demos are an amazing add to any MJ collection. Fantastic sound and amazing pictures of the King Of Pop.
A good buy I think to remember Michael Jackson

I am sure most of ya’ll seen heard most of his music except This is it and oh gosh I forgot the other song. But the remastered versions are pretty good. The only thing that was a big waste of money was CD 2. They should have really scratched that one out and they would have saved a ton of money.
THIS IS IT

I knew from the beginning that this was going to be basically another Greatest Hits collection, but I had to get it for the simple fact that it’s Michael. However, I am not disappointed with this album. I absolutely LOVE the 36 page booklet that comes with it and features pictures from his rehearsals. I also love the title track, This is It. I can listen to it over and over again.
Worth Every Penny

This double CD is well worth the purchase. Although we all probably have the songs on the first CD, most all have been remastered and sound even better (If we even thought that was possible). The ‘new’ song “This Is It” is awesome too. The demos and the spoken poem on the second CD are worth the purchase alone. He sounds incredible singing “She’s Out Of My Life” acoustically. The poem “Planet Earth” is from MJ’s “Dancing the Dream” book of poetry and reflections written in 1992 and it’s absolutely beautiful to hear. The 36 page booklet of pics from his recent rehearsals is a nice addition too. Also, it doesn’t hurt to know that most of the proceeds help to support his legacy ~ his children.
Great

Love this DVD – I got the one that looks like a miniture book with the 2 cd’s. There are pictures from the movie and lists all the songs. I really love the “This is it” song. Could not play it enough. Have seen the movie twice and hope to see it at least 1 more time on the big screen. The second CD has a version of “shes out of my life” that I have never heard before. Its a demo. There are also a couple more demos on the 2nd CD. The poem is amazing. Hearing Michaels voice reading the poem is just fantastic. Love it
“This Is It” If you see the movie this CD is a must have.

I just saw the movie, “This Is It” and as the closing credits rolled the song “This Is It” plays in the background. I doubt there was a dry eye in the theater. People in the theater did not move from their seats while the song was playing. The movie was heartbreaking. MJ should not have passed away so soon. I am definitely getting this cd. I’ll never forget Michael Jackson as long as I live. I also love the “Planet Earth Poem” on this cd. I hope the film is available on DVD because I will definitely get that also. The film was beautiful, I hope it is nominated for an Academy Award because it is a totally honest look at what he was trying to accomplish with his comeback tour.

I really really like Michael Jackson a lot. His passing is truly a tragedy. I sincerely hope that This Is It is not it. This album offers some new material as well as some much awaited demos but mostly consists of previously released material. As many albums worth of unreleased songs he as done I truly hope that This isn’t it and that more future releases will follow. Also worth noting is the slip packaging. I would recommend storing your disks in a different case lest they get scratched up over time putting the in and taking them out.
This Is It and Demos save this CD
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
The This Is It song, 3 demo tracks and poem are what save this CD from being a complete waste. The 36 page photo booklet is not all photos of MJ and half the pictures are so tiny you need a magnifying glass to identify who is in them. I feel the advertisement for this CD was very misleading because the official MJ website released the demos as examples of what would be on this CD, which lead me to beleive even though the songs were not new (obviously not new since MJ let us, the fans, choose which songs he would perform) the singing/performance of them would be new AND would be recordings from his concert rehearsals. I feel disappointed and cheated. For the This Is It tracks, demos and poem I give it 3 stars instead of 1.
Just another greatest hits project!!

I really had wished this would have been music from the motion picture but it’s just stuff that he already recorded being remastered.. The only reason i’m giving this a 2 is because of disc 2 (the demo versions & the poem).. I will probably give this cd away eventually & wait for the DVD to come out..
THIS IS IT SOUNDTRACK
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
I WAS DISAPPOINTED IN THE SO-CALLED SOUNDTRACK. DISC TWO IS FINE ‘CAUSE IT GOT SOMETHING NEW, FRESH WITH THE POEM AND DEMO VERSIONS. BUT… DISC ONE IS A TRUE LETDOWN.(THE ONLY TREAT ON THAT DISC IS THE TWO VERSIONS OF THIS IS IT)FLOODING US WITH SONGS WE ALREADY IN ONE CD OR ANOTHER AND SUNG THE WAY WE ALREADY HAVE THEM… IF THEY CAN TAKE 80 HOURS OF REHEARSAL FOOTAGE SPLICE IT, EDIT IT AND MAKE A DAMN GOOD MOVIE THEN THEY SHOULD HAVE THE SAME WITH THE SONGS THE WAY IN HE REHEARSED- SUNG THEM IN THE MOVIE. AND THEN IT WOULD HAVE A TRUE SOUNDTRACK…….
Nothing new, but second disc and the new single make it worth owning
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This Is It is an album compiling the songs of Michael Jackson’s songs that were to be done in his London Concerts, and is presented in the order they were to be performed. My one complaint is that these are the studio versions that many fans already own through Michael’s albums instead of something new or updated.
I am disappointed that they did not include a bonus disc of him singing these songs live in his rehearsals. Having seen the This Is It documentary it was clear that Michael was singing all his songs live, even while dancing (he often got out of breath) and a live Michael album is what I think fans would really need.
That being said this album does have some good new things.
This Is It – a sweet, moving ballad by the late King of Pop. Probably not good for casual listeners, but if you’re a devoted fan such as myself you’ll enjoy it.
Planet Earth – the first time we get to hear Michael reading his poetry aloud. It really shows you the deeper side of Michael’s personality; a side we often didn’t see.
We then get some demos of his classic songs, the best of which is the demo for Beat It; just fun to hear Michael doing the tune and words all by himself.
This is a good collector’s item, but don’t expect much new if you already own Michael’s previous compilation albums or records.
Remember to always think of love – L.O.V.E – when listening to these songs!
BEST EVER

This Is It is the best and everyone should get this CD. everyone should see the movie. MJ is amazing and you will see the true Michael. The CD is wonderful and I recommend that everyone buy it.
“This is It…I mean…this is REALLY it…”

God, listening to this double disced soundtrack and seeing the movie This Is It, it makes me really wish that Michael could’ve went out with a bang like he would have during this fifty night stay at the O2 Arena. Because, from what I saw on the movie, and what I hear on the soundtrack, it was going to be nothing but pure magic from beginning to end.
The soundtrack, on disc one, is choked full of old favorites that I’m sure he would have been performing, since he was promising fans he would perform the songs they wanted to hear. “Wanna Be Startin’ Something,” “Billie Jean,” “Beat It,” “Thriller,” the controversial “Earth Song,” the controversial “They Don’t Care About Us,” and “Jam,” amongst other songs…this would have been the perfect way to go out if you were going to go out.
Even the new song, which isn’t new, but it is, “This Is It,” really shows you Michael’s true talent.
Unfortunately, Michael passed away a few weeks before these scheduled concerts were to begin; but we always have the memories, and now, we have both the movie and the soundtrack to “This Is It,” what would have been Michael’s final curtain call as a performer.
And, from what I’ve heard and seen, we’re missing out on what would’ve been his best work yet. Makes you sad to think about it.
I wouldn’t buy it…

After watching the This Is It film, this CD is a huge let down! It’s probably what happens when people try to make quick and easy money. If it wasn’t for the second disc, this would be nothing more than a compilation of old songs with a new cover. It would have been much better if they put the rehearsal recordings, with the live instrumentals. Even though MJ sometimes didn’t sing through the whole song, it was great to hear the superb musicians that were going on tour with him.
Not It
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
Absolutely none of the live music from the movie is on this CD – it is all studio releases and demos. This is the first time I have ever seen the “soundtrack” of a live performance movie contain none of the actual live performance. The music from the movie is very good . . . maybe it will be available for purchase later. I would pass on this one.
