psp the best ipod/pmp/web browser/ video game sytem

The psp is the swiss army knife of portable electronics it does everything. web access, online gaming, digital downloads, internet radio, music, photos, custom wallpaper, video, topnotch graphics, big gorgeous screen, intuitive controls, great game library, and tons of cases and perpherials. this is the holy grail of portable gaming/entertainment. highly recommend better then nintendo ds and ipod touch combined.

This machine will do everything! Movies, games, music web… I even use it to edit myspace and AIM on the go. Straight out of the box it is simply awesome, and with some easy modification it opens up to infinite possibilities. If you are considering a purchase, go get one from a real store as they only cost 169.99,not as much as these pirates. I’m kinda happy to have written this using my PSP.

This is hands down my favorite gadget. In fact, I purchased a second “Slim” model to support the franchise.
Few devices allow you to…
1. Play 3D games that are PS2 quality (DS is N64 quality)
2. Play mp3s
3. Play videos stored on memory card
4. View photos
5. Watch full movies (UMD will die but as a format it’s not that bad)
6. Browse the internet (limited)
7. Listen to streaming radio
8. Play multi-player games over the internet with other PSP users
9. View RSS feeds
10. Link with PS3
Right now PSPs are a bargain. With the amount of great games available, I can’t recommend getting one enough if you enjoy media on the go.

Negative:
On the adds, it makes you think that once you have the game, you can have fun, but it is not the case. You have to buy expensive memory cards, expensive games, you cannot put any kind of video on the unit (can still watch PSP movies you have to buy) and you have to buy the usb cord to connect it to your computer if you want to download your photos, videos and music.
Positive:
the graphics are nice. You can listen to music with or without earplugs. You can go on the internet wherever there is a connection.
Conclusion:
The game is fun to play, but be aware that everything about it is BUY BUY more to have it complete.

Note this review is supposed to be for the original “PSP 1000″ a.k.a. the “phat” model. The main reason I like this device is for the hacks and mods you can easily do to it. If you know what you’re doing you can down grade the firmware all the way back to version 1.5 and from there load any number of “homebrew” applications. Yes, this can be used for illicit purposes but there are actually legitimate reasons. Personally I buy all my games and play them in between various fun homebrew applications. For instance there is one called PSPTube and another called PiMPStreamer.
With PSPTube you can search YouTube videos and play them directly on the PSP. PiMPStreamer allows you for streaming over wifi of existing media stored on a local PC in flash video format. Installing and setting these two functions up may not be for the faint of heart, especially downgrading firmware from any version 3.51 or higher, but these just two examples of the great home apps that can be used.
If you’re not interested in all that extra stuff that requires voiding your warranty and/or “bricking” your PSP, the system itself has a lot of impressive features. For instance you can bring up a screen with a bunch of streaming radio broadcasts (assuming you have wireless internet access). You can also subscribe to RSS feeds, though I do not like how they set it up, and a built-in web browser.
The web browser has obvious limitations and a visit to the wrong site will result in an “out of memory” error. I have noticed in at least one example a page formatted for the iPhone seemed to work pretty well for the PSP’s browser. Of course, you can hardly blame the PSP for a lack of mobile device-friendly pages on the internet.
Then there’s playing videos and audio off the memory stick, displaying photos and the great UMD games you can get. My favorite right now is PuzzleQuest. I don’t know if it’s any better/worse than the DS or any other version but I think it’s really fun.

The psp is by far the most handy portable game system when it comes to being able to play music and show pictures but when push comes to shove there are some flaws that can make even a patient gamer mad. The three biggest ones are
1. The battery life is too short and even though you can get other batteries you shouldn’t have to in the first place.
2. Loading screens are common and some take FOREVER!
3. to get video on it you have to use CRACKLE a online video site like youtube or you have to get a special program that costs money.
Now you may say that i am being too harsh so let me tell you some good things about it.
1. there is online play in a fare amount of the games and it is quite fun.
2. there is a very great web browser on this system and it is useful for a kid that wants to check his email on the road.
3. Some of the best games for this system are now under 20 dollars
Over all i am glad that i have traded in my Nintendo DS for a PSP but as i have found neither system is perfect but time will see both of them do great things.

When I purchased My psp I thought for the price it was I was thinking that it was going to be scratched up a lot but they proved me wrong! When I got my psp it was in good condition not a scratch on it! I highly recommend this product

The psp is simply an amazing entertainment system. it can play amazing games, watch movies, serve as your several size mp3 player (as in gb not physical size and shape) and i forgot to mention it can write reviews of a psp on a psp! literally! i only have one thing left to say if u dont already have one BUY IT TODAY!

The Sony PSP is undoubtedly the more powerful and versitile of the handheld game system out there. Graphically the unit produces games comparable to the PS2 (getting closer with each generation of game release). The target audience for the unit are teens, college students, and even some adults. Now that the size of the memory cards are getting bigger and the price cheaper, you can download games from Playstation Network directly onto your PSP. The PSP is definitely worth it now that the price has dropped.

I love my PSP. I use it all the time. Not only can you play games on it, but you can also surf the internet, watch movies, listen to music, etc. This is a great gift. I would highly recommend this to everyone, not just for those who enjoy video games.

Buy used games and books from merchants, but not gaming systems! Buy them from an actual store or directly from Amazon or other reputable online site (not from a third party). This area is for product reviews (to help people in decision making). Take complaints directly to amazon and the 3rd party merchant you chose. I love my PSP. I use it everytime I’m flying or traveling. It’s cool when I don’t want to bust out my laptop to entertain myself. Wish that there were more movies for it. The game selection is decent. Like the controls and battery life. Great for watching movies. Screen is so clear!

The PSP came in a nice case and all described parts were present. The listing said it was “like new” but the battery compartment cover was missing. This was not mentioned and should have been.

I’m really pleased with the PSP. Just about everything is exactly what I wanted. Music quality is great, videos are easy to convert using the free PSP Video 9, output to television is superb. The only downsides are the wireless internet browser, which, while it connects, is problematic and the need to enter text using a crude letter by letter approach.

Don’t get me wrong this an awesome piece of electronics. the only place u can see it is if u r in a cave. any amount of lighting can make every disappear and a reflection of your face appears on the screen. and if u buy this item u have 2 buy a screen protector so it doesn’t get scratched.
