The Best for Portable Gaming
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I’ve been a hand held fan since the original Game Boy. I travel a lot and there is nothing like some mind numbing shooter to pass the time on a flight or an airport delay.

I have both the DS, DS Lite and the PSP. In fact, my wife even has a DS. However, for gaming, especially in a shooter, it’s hard to beat the PSP. The screen is larger and the action is more fluid. With the DS I just can’t get into switching from the buttons to the touch screen when in the heat of battle. A long time and dedicated Metroid fan, I had to give up on Metroid Hunters. But God of War on PSP…awesome.

The DS is great for educational games for grownups. Brain Drain, Crosswords, language tutorials, etc are well done and great for adults. Nintendo is good at exploiting this niche. But again, for pure action gaming…the PSP is king.

My only suggestion is spend the money for the lithium battery and perhaps even get a spare and a seperate PSP battery charger. Unlike Nintendo, SONY does produce its product with dual voltage power supplies that come in handy when you travel to any place where the voltage is different.

Looks good!

I am turning 10 and am getting the Sony PSP for my birthday. Me and my dad have researched it and just so you know, this is the best portable gaming system out there! It has photo, movies, TV, games(duh), and internet! (of course, you have to pay for the TV and internet), But anyway, this looks like a very good game(for the price(:-P)), and I hope you enjoy it.

R O C K S ! ! !
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Well, I kinda wanna make this fast, the PSP ROCKS! Wii is nothing compared to this, and it’s way cheaper. Wii can’t give you videos and internet or music… OR pictures. Nah, PSP beats that!

NEED USB CABLE JUST LIKE THE ONES YOU USE FOR THE MOTOROLA RAZRv3

Music: efects are good, visualizations are pretty nice to be such a tiny console. Built-in speakers are not quite good, specially their location…

Screen: CAUTION might get scratched easily, display rocks and effects from any game are shown perfectly. NO dead pixels and I’ve got a year with it, for now… :p

Photos: Send and receive ‘em. GET A NEW MEMORY STICK, THE ONE THAT COMES WITH IT ITS TOO DANG SMALL! (get at least 516mb, or just like I did: 1gb, which suits me best ’cause I have a lot of songs and a bunch of pics.)

Pictures look perfect!

Videos: haven’t watched videos, old crappy mpeg4 is hard to find, I recommend Videora software to convert videos to the proper type, but movies in UMD are recommended, the size may get u all angry, and the umd movies are quite more expensive, I’d rather watch DVDs.

TO GIVE THIS LIST AN END I just wanna say that this console rocks and I recommend it a 98% percent, nevermind watcha gotta get for it.

Awesome portable system, but with major flaws that earn it a 3 in my book
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
Its really a shame that such a good piece of equipment can be so faulty. The PSP value pack I bought, it looked good at first, then I noticed 2 dead pixels. They’re only noticeable during a dark screen and not during gameplay, but then a blue one popped up. And it is just always there, it won’t go away… Then today I noticed dust beginning to collect UNDER the freaking screen!… what the hell was SONY thinking when they released this?

This would be the perfect portable gaming system if it wasn’t for such problems, and now I’m thinking I shoud’ve got a DS. It isn’t as powerful, but at least I don’t have to worry about such issues… I should’ve listened to myself when I said not to buy this because of all the negative reviews. I considered the problems to be the exception, and not the rule, but I was wrong…

Ultimate Multi Gaming Device!!!!!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
The PSP is a nice game system released by Sony. It has many features that are awesome when on the go or even at home. Features includes: games(Universal Media Disks/UMD), MP3, movies(UMD), internent(wireless connection is needed, of course), and you can also download videos and photos onto your PSP. This value pack has pretty much what you need, except for games that is. It includes headphones w/remote, cleaning cloth, charger, battery pack, 32mb memory stick pro duo, and the PSP soft case. If you need game suggestions I would reccomend: Pursuit Force, Daxter, Ratchet and Clank:Size Matters, Full Auto 2, and also Burnout: Dominator. So as you can see, this IS the ultimate multi gaming device!!!!PSP:A+. Hope this review helps you if need games on the go.

It helps out on long plane rides or when the wife want to watch TV on the BIG screen. I just wish the battery lasted longer.

The PSP is the greatest invention since sliced bread.
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I can run down the list of the the PSP 1000′s launch debacles. Not that many but here are the major ones to get the dirt out of the way:

Dead pixels; A nearly microscopic yellow some times green dot on your PSP screen. You can’t wipe it off because its uder the liquid screen-guard pressing. They are built into the system. Think of them as a mistake during manufacturing. Also these small bright (and annoying dots) are only visible in polarized conditions meaning when the screen is completely black or white.

Bricking; This was your fault most of the time if it happened. Its caused by some sort of failure in your Firmware or with any attempt to alter your Firmware. Sony is prone to alter it for you as per Terms of Agreement. The firmware updates form Sony are usually meant to upgrade your PSP. The custom “homebrew” Firmware upgrades (some downgrade) are designed to MOD your handheld and are not condoned by Sony. I have never done it as with risk of bricking my PSP.

Screen fragility; this is not a debacle per se but a personal complaint none the less. I can’t stand the vulnerability of the PSP’s brilliant screen. Its easily scratched and must be maintained constantly. Its akin to baby-sitting. Nit-pickers be warned.(just grab some screen guards)

Enough with the bad on with the good! I always wanted an Ipod but the PSP squashed all possibilities of ever defecting to Apple. I have an “ipod” in my PSP. I fill up my 4gb Memory stick pro duo with metal all the time. One thing working against my model of PSP (the 1000s) is its clunkiness. Not boding well for a jogger or someone using an “mp3 player” in that manner. The list of comaptible audio files for the PSP grows constantly with Sony’s excellent firmware updates and intention of keeping the PSP in the “mp3 player” game.

The games are what I want to touch on next like its bigger sister the PS3 the PSP had a lull in any real video game titles upon launch. Now its fresh in ’09 and I can list over 3 killer titles for the PSP:

Crisis Core

Jeanne D’arc

Dracula X Chornicles

All those games came out during the ’07-’08 release cycles and more to come this year in 09′. I have to also reccomend Killzone Liberation being that its a Greatest hits already. The game-genres vary but I can say the PSP is a very good RPG system. Alot of classics from the ninties are re-released with AAA treatment. Companies like Square-Enix release titles all the time that were once on the PSX or that were never released in the US. I’d like to get into the graphics deparment but I’m a fan of functionality more. If you comapre DS screen shots with the PSP screen shots its a no-brainer which system has the best graphics. With functionality features I can tell you about Remote Play.

Remote Play is when you have a PS3 and PSP system “talk” to each other. You can view any video files on your PS3 hard drive on your PSP through Remote Play connectivity. I aslo found that Bionic Commando Rearmed a downloadable game; supports Remote Play. I can be on the toilet and play a PS3 title on my PSP(only if supported). One last functionality feature is the ability of transferring files via the Memory Stick Pro Duo(in my PSP) to my PS3. I have a crappy 40gb PS3 so I’m constantly cycling files in and out to conserve space. The PSP is there for you as any entertainment medium will permit. Internet browsing, Games, Music, Videos, Photos, and the Playstaion Store all in your hands.

Awesome
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I love the PSP. it is great. I ordered it on Sunday and got it on Friday. The only bad thing was i didn’t recieve the soft case, and some other little items, but I contacted the company and they replied in one day and are sending the items to me free of charge. One thing to make sure you know is that all these are opened packages, so if you don’t mind that then this is a great buy, and way cheaper than any stores. Overall it was a great buy.

the best portable.
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
the games look amazing, specially a game called ATV “off road fury”, it has a lot of nice looking landscapes.

it came with the “lords of dogtown” movies, and I have to tell you. the film looks so crisp and so similar to dvd, its unbelievable. the only thing I hold against Sony is that the UMD movies are so expensive. They should be cheaper than or at least on par with dvds. $29.99 for a movie is ridiculous.

it connects to the internet, and its decent looking. except for flash images, which won’t even appear. you can’t watch youtube videos there…lol.

you can use software to rip dvds on your computer and transfer them to the psp for watching on the go. i can fit 4 movies on 1 gb card. amazing right? And the quality of the picture is great, and it doesn’t even skip or lag, its smooth like on tv. you need a program called dvd43 to rip dvds (don’t say i told you :) …haha.

-you can store pictures, play mp3s (althoug its a little bulky to carry as an mp3 player, i used to connect it to my car stereo).

-there’s an application that lets you play radio through your wireless hotspot.

-like any lcd screen, in direct sunlight you can’t see a thing.

-the battery lasts a lot playing games or videos.

-it charges pretty quickly.

-one complaint is that the UMDs are VERY flimsy. If you grab the the wrong way, they break. I have repaired them with magic tape though and they keep playing, but they could have done a better job on such expensive discs.

I haven’t really used the online play. I have tried it, and it seems to work alright with the WSOP game, but it drops in ATV off-rod fury game, and my lynsis is the best wireless router, so you can’t blame it on my equipment. that’s a server issue.

overall, its a great game console. the rest are just bonuses that sony put there for your enjoyment.

so, as a console is a GREAT console.

But they need to improve the build of UMDs, and make the $39.99 per game be worth the price.

Great system.
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I bought this a couple of days after it came out and since then i still play it. I am glad that i bought the value pack because it came with everything that i needed and i did not want to buy. I played the psp 2000 and i liked it much better so now i might buy the 3000 or psp go. I got it a long time ago so back then i only had the GBs so i thought that the screen and the graphics were the best in the world for a portable. But after a while the headphones were great untill i lost them and the case was not very protective so i bought a new one. The memory card was small and did not hold much so i couldent put music, photos, and have games saved on it so i just used my ipod. It is heavy and not very comfortable. The strap that comes with it is handy. U can choose the color of the menu background or use a photo. I paid 250 bucks for it and today even if u buy the value pack it is not worth even close to that much. The graphics and sound is not as good as the ps2 but better than a GC or a ps1. In fact most games becides racing games, r almost the same as some ps2 games. This system is good if u buy a newer one like the 3000 or the go but this one is the first and the oldest so if u dont like it i would buy one of the newer ones.

Fair, not wonderful

This was a Christmas present for my son. The screen has two small pin size white spots in the screen. It’s a little annoying when watching movies.

King of the hand-helds!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This IS the ultimate hand held! With plenty of games, a LCD screen, and the ability to store photos, music, and videos on it, this makes the king! There are loads of good games out there. Shooters, puzzles, and racing. And lots of accesories like headphones, a remote, and a band. Also wi-fi capabale. Sure, go buy your game boy color, or your DS, or your ipod, but your missing out. This is like a game boy, ds, and ipod all wrapped into 1. So instead on buying another hand-held, buy this one, ’cause it is the best of the best!

PSP Review
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I am only writing a review on the PSP itself.

The PSP is completely amazing. The graphics are waaay better than what nintendo could ever dish out for hand held consoles. It has great games with great graphics. Not to mention the PSPs durability. I left mine out in the rain for several days and though it didn’t work for awhile it started working a couple weeks afterward. I have dropped mine down a flight of stairs and it landed on a wood floor only to have it still in perfect condition. The PSP is great for everyone and not that more expensive than a DS which is not nearly as awesome as the PSP. Don’t forget the internet browser either.

Rating:5 out of 5 stars
my 13 yr old got this for xmas last yr and he loves it the games arent that expensive and we got a bigger memory card and have wireless internet so he can get online through his psp and do all kinds of things besides play games…he loves it…. ONE RECOMMENDATION, BUY THE CLEAR SCREEN PROTECTOR SHEETS..i got mine at walmart and they are like clear static sheets..because the screen scratches SOOO easily. even if u clean it with a soft cloth it scratches…so i bought a pack of 4 protectors for a few bucks and its well worth it!

False Adverstisment
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
This is a broken dirty game with missing pieces. It does not work. You have to pay someone to fix it. You might as well just buy one new. Mine was for a birthday gift. How dissapointing. I tried going to youtube and downloading all of these different progams to unbrick it. Wast of time.

Real Nice
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have this and it’s better than I thought.plays UMD’S really well and the screen is the best I’ve seen and that games are great to play I don’t have a lot of games but I love playing the PSP when I’m on the subway train,or in the mood to play a game or see a UMD movie. I reommemed this player, for any adult.I don’t download music just the movies so I could watch later. You could also store files on it at well.

So go get it.It will be the best buy yet.
