Realistic racing, frustrating missions
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
Be warned. The description for this game makes it seem like you can race any of the chosen cars from 1961 to 1971 whenever you want. Wrong! You must complete missions to unlock additional cars and years. “Dodge” is the second mission and it’s incredibly frustrating to try and survive 5 catastrophic accidents within a 1/2 lap involving every vehicle on the track except the pace car.
Other than this, it’s an enjoyable driving game.
Fantastically REAL!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
The Indianapolis 500 Legends for wii by Destineer is maybe the most realistic game I’ve ever played. The various cars/drivers behave in very different ways so you need to truly learn the characteristics of a car in order to excel. True to the decade era, the track itself changes too.
Do not miss this game. Not to mention it is very reasonably priced.

I love the racing game and this is a fun one. Only problem i have is that I cannot get past the qualifying. Will have to bring in a video junky to get me past that so I can race with the big guys!!
But what I can get into is alot of fun!
Worth buying? YES!

Received product in a timely fashion, price was reasonable. Game is very enjoyable and gives alot of history of Indy. A racing fan will definitely enjoy.
NICE PICK FOR THE BUCKS
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
The experience is quite nice, since you start your career in 1961 and wins make available new cars ans missions. YOU REALLY HAVE TO BE PRECISE WHEN DRIVING, NOT MUCH CHANCE TO RECOVER IF YOU MAKE A MISTAKE.
ONE OF THE BETTER RACING GAMES
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Cool cars, cool action. You can set this up to be easy or as challenging as you like. Not the stupid racing with cartoon cars and cartoon drivers. I’ve raced this as a PC game, and when I heard it was coming out for the Wii, I couldn’t wait, and certainly wasn’t disappointed!
Fun racing game

I bought this for my husband. He’s having a lot of fun setting up different cars. He can’t wait for the PS2 version to come out!!
Some issues, but fun & priced right
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
The previous reviewers did a good job summarizing the good & bad of the product.
Pro: Fun solo game at a reasonable price
Con: Two-player issues and slow re-load times
The game is fun and addictive as you work your way though the missions/years, unlocking more car models and improving your technique. Actually, I found the game most frustrating in the early missions/years because the early cars have horrible “drift”, while later models actually drive tighter and make it easier to win those later stages.
Now for the cons — the game does indeed seem to slow down in response in two-player mode, and given the sensitivity desired for good driving technique at high speeds, it ruined that portion for me. Additionally, when in solo mode, the re-load time necessary after each failed mission makes for a frustrating experience when you just want to get back in there right away and try it again.
Bought for about twenty bucks, this game was a good buy.
Indianapolis 500 racing game

The driving of the indy cars is a lot of fun. I like the way you can handle the car on the track. The only thing I wish the game would go more years in the current time era. Overall I really enjoy the game.
Excellent racing game.

This game is a ton of fun. Takes you back to when racing cars was the most exciting thing. Works great with a wheel controller. Down side is the stuff you do when your in the pit is hard with a Wii controller. I got this game very cheap on Amazon. Its worth trying.

I got this game for my eight-year-old nephew, and according to him it’s, “the best racing game ever.”
Boring

Not much to do but drive in circles unless you are able to unlock missions. Graphics were dark.
Wii Indianapolis 500
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I bought this for myself after getting my kids the Wii console. As a racing nut for pc and not too enthused by the games available on PS2 and PS3 I found this game an excellent option. The graphics though not equivelent to a pc game are sufficient. The game itself is quite enjoyable and competitive especially once you finish the Missions Mode and upgrade cars.Well worth the $20 spent.
Good Racing Game
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This is a great game for less than $[...] bucks. A lot of games get very frustrating when you have to complete missions in order to move on to the next level. This one is not that bad to me. I have had to try missions several times to move on but if you could skip right to the end of the game then it probably wouldnt be very fun.
Great for Intermediately Talented Racers…
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I first saw this game when I was searching for a good cheap racing game. I found it! This game is easy enough to pick up quickly, yet challenging enough to make you earn your glory.
Plus – video footage from old races in between games, reality of game is believable.
Minus – you pretty much have to unlock everything, while I enjoy a challenge, my schedule does not permit me to spend hours mastering a recreation from the 60′s where a driver narrowly dodges three wrecks in twenty seconds (to earn you the chance at the next level)
Overall a very good Cheap game, but you have to have the time to work at it and get the feeling of the controls.
Best Indy Game Ever
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I love the old Indy races with such heavy hitters like Johnny Rutherford they bring back such great memories. It is set from 1961-1971. This game is very realistic not some dumb cartoon. It has flaming crashes, rolling tires, spinning cars, oil slicks to name a few. Driving the old cars is great. The old rules apply too. It can be a little challenging at times but its very realistic.
The tough part is to unlock the good stuff you have to beat the challenges. It can be time consuming. I just want to get to the good stuff right away.
The graphics can kind of glitch when running 2 player mode. Not too bad but its better with one player.
Nice simple racing game

Inexpensive yet nice little racing game. Only race at Indy speedway. Limited number of years 1961 thru 1971.
A Must For Owning A Wii
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This is a must have game for people who are looking for a good racing game and enjoy the history of Indy Car. But even if you dont, this game is really fun and takes racing game missions to a whole new prespective. There are many activities built into the game as you race, battle, pit stop and dodge cars to unlock more cars and more years of racing history and fun.
There is only a few things I can say stopped me from giving it a 5.0 rating…
1. When in the turns, sometimes it gets dark and makes me have to turn the brightness up on my television. This is more likely for the effect of the shadows from the stands, but it does make you nervous when driving 3 wide in a turn.
2. This doesnt pertain to just this game… But I wish a racing game would come out for Wii where you could customize your own race car. There is no customization in this game. You drive their stock cars and that is all.
3. No practice or free mode. You always have to be racing. There isnt any time to have fun and free mode drive or practice without the race setting. Which is upsetting cause like the old Nascar games, I liked to be able to do my own thing.
Overall I recommend this product to anyone interested in a good racing game! You wont be sorry for what you pay for it on here!
If you remember the 60′s
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I grew up close to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway back in the 1960′s and remember the cars and drivers included in this game very well. The historical facts included are great as are the video clips. The game is challenging and brings back good memories.
I like it
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I grew up in Speedway close to the track in the 60′s when this game is primarily set. It’s great! Each year the cars get faster and easier to steer, you get to pick your favorite drivers, like Foyt, Parnelli Jones, and more. It’s got regular races and challenges to keep you moving through the game. Lot’s of racing games are just unrealistic and cartoonish–this is more real.
Indy 500
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
The gift was purchased for an 11 year old. He has had so much fun and enjoyment…The game required a steering wheel and he feels successful when playing the racing game.
very repetitive
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
This game is not one of our favorites. The object of the game is simple – race aound the track against the clock and other cars. There are several views available while racing which is nice. You only have one choice of car to start with and have to earn the right to drive the “legends.”
There are pit stops where you can add fuel or change tires if needed. These tasks take time but are easy to learn.
There’s not much more to the game other then racing around the track. My children prefer Mario Brothers over this one.
I would recommend it to people who prefer a car racing game true to form and do not want all the bells and whistles.

Get this game before Daytona! If you are a race fan you will love it. I spent 4 hrs the first night with it and have not got to bed before 12:30 for days.

I love the graphics and the overall thrill of the race. Many different races to try and everyone is a challenge to your driving ability. Love it!!
Why did they bother including multiplayer?
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
Overall I found this game to be fun, informative and well worth the price I paid ($15). The cars from the different eras aren’t just skins mounted on the same physics, they have very different handling characteristics. The designers came up with some good missions to keep the game challenging, but avoid the monotony of racing 200 laps. They also picked a very interesting time period in the evolution of race car design. My biggest complaint is the inclusion of the multiplayer option. There’s no way you could possibly play it, the game bogs down to a snail’s pace. Was it only included because the company was concerned about sales for a single player racing game? Buy it if you’re interested in learning about the history of one of the greatest American sporting events, but not if you’re looking for a head-to-head racing game to battle your friends.
