Great Gameplay – Needs work though
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
Grabbed this when it became a freebie and don’t regret it. Simple and highly addictive gameplay, especially the MouseParty option. As many mice as your system will handle, so will this game, with a different player “driving” each one. That being said, here’s what I don’t like.
It has an untimed “Relaxed” mode which is perfect for whiling away time, but unfortunately my favorite mode (MouseParty) does NOT have the same option.
There is no way to “save” (in a conventional sense) games. Your session and level are preserved, but you can only have one “game” saved. Hence it’s not possible to have one game for each mode. You can choose your starting level, but it’s not like you can be playing in relaxed mode, and when friends come over, save it and pick up the MouseParty where you left off.
It’s likely that some of these have been fixed in the V2 edition that was just released, but for free, I’m not complaining too loudly, or too long.
All in all it’s fun, and best of all, free, free, free!
Fun – Not sure why people think it’s trialware
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I’ve found Kahuna Reef to be a fun game to play now and then. I’m not sure why people think it expires after 30 minutes… I’ve played it for much more than that and it runs fine. Every now and then it asks if I’d like to buy Kahuna Reef 2, but that’s not a big deal. For a free game (plus the promo for $5 in MP3 download credits), it’s quite good.
totally addicting

This game is great to relax to with fish everywhere. Biggest problem is putting it down. The best part though is the ability to play with multiple players. Just add another mouse and off you go. By far this one is my favorite. Other great thing about it is after you beat the 100 boards it comes with you can download ones made up by others. It’s never ending enjoyment.
I love this game

I’m not too much of a gamer but I love this game. I love the ocean sounds that I can listen to as I play it. I play it at the end of the day as it is relaxing for me but challenging too. I am on level 80 which gets more and more difficult as you play it.
Great Puzzle Game

It’s an enjoyable casual game that mostly any computer can play. I have an old laptop & this game plays flawlessly on screen. A very easy game to quickly pick up on the go whenever you’re bored. I recommend it.
Having a blast!

Hey thanks Amazon! For a free game, this one is a blast! I really enjoy going thru all the different levels.
Good game; bad marketing tactics
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
The game seems well-constructed and was enjoyable to play, but I uninstalled it quickly. It appeared on my main Amazon page as a ‘recommended’ item with a cost of $0.00; nowhere did it clearly say that it was a 30-minute version that was timed to expire. I appreciate that developers need to get paid, but if this is a trial version, then SAY its a trial version. Heck, put an asterix next to the $0.00 so folks know. I would have gladly tried it out and paid for the full version if I was aware of this up front, but instead I had to download and run the the ‘Amazon Software Installer’ and then the software itself. No thanks- please be more honest up front.

This is supposed to be a free game, but it’s really a time-limited demo… shame on Amazon!
Big Kahuna Reef [Game Download]

can’t get to download so i can’t comment on how i like it…although it does look fun
Disappointing
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
Billed as a “free downloadable game”, this time-limited demo was not worth the time to install. It might have been fun – but no more fun than the thousands of actually free games available online every day. I applaud Amazon’s attempt at breathing life back into the ShareWare concept, but these tactics are what killed it off to begin with.
People will pay for innovative, well-written software. I suspect those who actually buy this game are simply ignorant to what’s available.

Have this game on all our computers. Everyone loves this classic match 3 game and screen saver. Right now, the price is right….FREE
cant complain

this is a great game for 0.00 i played games that were over 20 bucks that werent any fun but yes this is a good downloaded i recommend this 100 percent
No longer a “demo”- it’s the whole enchilada
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
According to many reviewers, the free download of Big Kahuna Reef is a demo that expires after 30 minutes. I am up to level 56 and the game is still going strong with no sign of any time limitations.
It’s a silly game, of course, but it gets harder and harder as you ascend each level and it’s a great excuse to put off vacuuming or some other tedious occupation. It looks like I will be able to match little goodies forever. 4 stars because Big Kahuna has quite a bit to offer for absolutely nothing.
Want to play this game? Send them money!

Enjoy yourself for 30 minutes because that’s all you get for your trouble. Shame on you Amazon for misleading your customers, they’ll be reluctant to use your digital downloads of any kind in the future.
Not on the same level as Fishdom
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
I downloaded this game right after I’d completed a 30 minute trial of Fishdom to compare the two. This game is not nearly on the same level – the graphics are not as vivid and the play is rather boring compared with other games of this type. I’m back to purchase fishdom.
An excellent Casual Game to Kill Time and watch the fishes
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Agree with several reviewers…this is really nice for a laptop, when you want an nice stress free game that requires a little concentration but no adrenaline… The fishes are great, the music is great, the thought process is good… The price was right, only wish there were more levels…
Great Game!

This is a fun and addictive (30 MINUTE DEMO) game which I highly recommend. It’s an awesome game and it’s free. Sure, you have to let Amazon install their games downloader program, but it’s a fast install and causes no problems. I have it installed on 3 computers and I’ve downloaded games on all of them. I use both Windows XP and Vista. Give “Big Kahuna Reef” a try. It’s well worth the price! Maybe you’ll buy the full version like I did
Help Me… I Can’t Stop Playing!!!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Downloaded this FREE game and now I have no free time… that’s because I play it for hours at a time!!! I have Windows XP and it works just fine (too well if you ask me because I can’t stop playing!!). As for those who claim its only a 30-minute trial game… Ha! I wish.
FREE (NOT DEMO) game requires AMAZON DOWNLOADER
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Big Kahuna Fish is a simple, but strangely addictive puzzle game. I wouldn’t call it fun but it is fairly engaging. A minor complaint is that there is an ad for the sequel game after each fish is unlocked.
The main reason I’m writing this review is to confirm that the game is indeed FREE. Many people have complained about this download being a 30-minute trial upon installing. I encountered the same problem myself but I figured out that this is because when you start the game for the first time, it links up with the Amazon Downloader. If the Downloader is running, it checks your Amazon download history, sees that the game was “purchased” at $0.00 and activates the full game. If, on the other hand, you don’t have Amazon Downloader active or if it’s been uninstalled, the game will remain a trial and you’ll be another person complaining about it on Amazon’s website.
This is a roundabout way to offer a free game, but there are probably two reasons why it’s like this:
1) Amazon is slowly taking over the world through their programs, and
2) The game was actually sold at a regular price in the past.
I couldn’t find any information in the help section about the Downloader having to be active, so Amazon should be ashamed about that. But I imagine they use the same method for all of their free games so we might as well get used to it.
Hope this helps.
Non-Violent Fun
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This is a fun little game at a great price point.
What I like about Kahuna Reef is that you can expend as much brain power as you want on “strategy” and it’s all up to you. Try to figure out moves 3 to 5 steps ahead as in a game of chess or just “pop” triplet combinations as they appear – the goal of clearing the board is the same.
No crime, violence, or exploding heads needed, this game stands on its own as simple and somewhat addictive entertainment.
you’ll wish you could stop
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
like others have said, it’s very addictive. i find myself playing it even when i don’t really want to. the levels that come with it aren’t too good, but you can download better user-made levels.
good game
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is a fun match-three-in-a-row game. There’s more free levels on the website. I also like the fish screensaver.
It’s an OK game

I played it a couple of times, but I don’t feel like playing it anymore. Average fun game.
Goes great with a big kahuna burger!

and of course a soda to wash it all down. Ah, that hit the spot.
Why is this game listed as “free”?
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
The game is listed as a free download, but when I click on the link to download, the page changes to my credit card info. So I’m going to pass on this supposedly free download.
